Sweet--but not too sweet--Orange Blossom Cologne
Gandini 1896 FOGLIE E FIORI D'ARANCIO is a very nice orange blossom cologne. It definitely is a cologne, as I managed to use all of my 1.7 ml sample in two applications over the course of one day. This is a slightly sweet presentation of orange blossom, I gather due to the presence of orange itself. It is more sweet than Prada INFUSION DE FLEUR D'ORANGER, which I like somewhat better and find rather soapy. However the Gandini is *A LOT* less sweet than By Kilian SWEET REDEMPTION. No candied orange blossoms in this cologne whatsoever.
The distinctive quality of FOGLIE E FIORI D'ARANCIO lies in the crunchy vetiver-cedar base, which really makes the drydown great. The sillage is medium and the longevity okay. This would be a good cologne choice for those repulsed by SWEET REDEMPTION but still wishing for a bit more sweetness than the Prada offers. This composition is also not soapy at all, which may be a plus for some as well.
