The Perfect Union Of Candor And Sensuality
Gandini Muschio Bianco was at the bottom of my wish list. I had hastily and mistakenly imagined yet another perfume with the scent of cleanser, fabric softener, home and car deodorant based on white musk. I associated it with something like Tesori d'Oriente Muschio Bianco or the shameful Alyssa Ashley Musk, and for that, I stayed away without even trying it. Over time, I bought all the assortment pieces, the last Tè Bianco, and Muschio Bianco was the only missing piece. I've wanted this for a few weeks, and the other day I decided I had to, at least, smell it. As soon as I sprayed on the paper strip and the back of my hand, I felt only alcohol, no fragrance. "Am I anosmic about some notes?"
I asked myself. I may not capture the large musk molecules used in this fragrance, and I am focusing solely on the floral bouquet of the heart, but other people will surely be able to smell the delicacy sticking to my skin. I remember that the same thing happened with Musc Blanc Les Senteurs Gourmandes. At first, it didn't leave me flabbergasted; it was just a mere, clean scent with little to do, but then it grew a little on me. Muschio Bianco is not in my book, I told myself, and I walked out of the store without buying it. Then, on the way back home, I perceived a slightly sweet smell, I put my hand to my nose, and I smelled a pleasant, clean, floral scent, but nothing to do with soaps. Ultimately I took it, and it is the essence par excellence that stands out for its sweetness and freshness. The fragrance is that of flowers and a simple white musk. Not heavy animal musk at all, but lovely to wear. Floral notes are not sturdy or loud. Muschio Bianco is an impalpable pure silk slip that you can touch, but it is as if it were not there.
The perfume opens in an alcoholic debut that remains on the skin, gaining rich and slightly spicy floral notes after a few minutes. Miserably, I get no hint of chypre undertones from bergamot and no sweetness from orange blossom. These are two notes that usually amplify and take over my skin, but they are barely noticeable in this. I wish I could get more from the initial stage.
The heart blooms like a flower in the early morning. I get shades of dewy white rose mixed with sumptuous ylang-ylang. There is a whiff of powder, which makes me think of the iris note in the recipe. I can barely feel cloves. The yellow flower is dominant and roles the middle stage.
Of course, there is also musk in the base, but it stands out more after the citrus and flowers fade a little. Special notes of oakmoss and amber intertwine. White musk blends with ambrette seed and the drier and musky tones balance the sweeter vanilla of the tonka bean. I can smell amber from time to time, but it's probably best not to think about individual notes too much and enjoy the scent to the full. Clean and pampered. Simplicity is the genius here.
Muschio Bianco is the puniest of all the pieces in the same collection. It looks and smells like you're wearing nothing! Very cuddly and relaxing, like a hug from a dear friend. Soft and enveloping musk, with spicy ylang-ylang and a touch of white flowers. There is a hint of dust as it dries, but positively. Muschio Bianco is the best example of a fragrance that is very similar to your skin but better. I miss the extreme filth of moss that some people talk about, but it's very sensual. It differs from most white musks on me because it is clean, yet it is still warm. I don't get that lathery, sharp note that I almost always get in clean musk scents.
It is an excellent choice for relaxing at home or for those times when you feel weird without perfume but don't want to wear something that gets a lot of attention. An excellent bedtime scent that smells clean to sprinkle on your warm body, pillow, and between the sheets. Dusty and clean moss. It smells like a cool spring breeze against clean laundry on a warm sunny day. Sometimes you sense the breeze. The sillage is soft; longevity is only a few hours on me. Don't expect robust and long-lasting moss; you will be incredibly disappointed. Instead, it has such a clean feel and is lovely in spring and summer when other fragrances seem to be cloying and oppressive.
This review is based on a 100ml bottle I own since April 2021.
