My New One!
After saving up my budget for a new fragrance, I first had to think about which one would be next. There are really many great scents on the market, but I decided on Nero Nepal. It has many qualities that I really like: spicy, woody, herbal, and also a certain sweetness.

At first, it is slightly citrusy but also very spicy. Slowly, I am really starting to enjoy cumin, which I was always put off by at first. The woody notes quickly join in, and it becomes very harmonious in every aspect. As I mentioned in my statement, I get Coca Cola vibes, and in the base, a note emerges that is familiar to me from my beloved "Shooting Stars - Amber Star | XerJoff."

I have heard multiple times that it resembles "Black Afgano (Extrait de Parfum) | Nasomatto." Unfortunately, I can't comment on that, as I haven't tested it yet. But since I like this one so much, I will definitely give it a try.

I find the quality for the price really more than successful. A great niche fragrance.

Golden Lemons for the Black Nepali
The name already suggests it: Nero Nepal is strongly inspired by "Black Afgano (Extrait de Parfum) | Nasomatto." After all, the Himalayan state was part of the so-called Hippie Trail in the 70s, a travel route where one could relatively easily make their way from Europe through the Balkans, Tehran, Kabul, Lahore, Delhi, all the way to Kathmandu. A detour led through Delhi, Varanasi, Dhaka, and then by sea to Bangkok. Today, this is almost unthinkable, but it was practically the precursor to later backpack tourism and brought many on their journey of self-discovery.

No - I'm not that old, but I met some people who undertook such a journey and can tell stories of numerous encounters, experiences, and adventures. This goes a bit deeper than three weeks at Ballermann or Balaton. To what extent some consciousness-expanding substances played a role back then is obvious. This is also referenced in Black Afgano.

My personal trip to Nepal was in the mid-90s, during which I can associate the country neither with lemon, nor with hemp, poppy, or guaiac wood, as listed in the pyramid. My memories are much more aligned with patchouli and sandalwood - which you can find not only in temples but in every little shop as well. There is little to nothing of that in this scent.
Furthermore, I find the lemon in the opening quite out of place, even though it is a kind of distinct difference from Black Afgano.

What truly bothers me, however, is a synthetically slightly biting undertone that has crept into Nero Nepal. A bit aggressive and anything but relaxing or consciousness-expanding, if one wants to approach the topic conceptually.

If I had not yet encountered Black Afgano Extrait de Parfum or its dupes, I would say: Wow - you are interesting! As it stands, however, it is unfortunately just a failed copy that cannot keep up with the original in terms of sillage and longevity.

A true insider tip for almost any occasion
Although I now have almost 200 fragrances and an endless amount of samples, I only recently became aware of the brand Benessere and have since become a true fan. I know hardly any brand that offers a better price-performance ratio. The regular retail price is €100 for 100 ml. But when the Nero Nepal by Marc Gebauer was offered at a promotional price, I had to jump on it. I had the fragrance as a sample and quickly used it up, as the scent has something addictive for me. Now, this may apply to many fragrances, but this one is a perfectionist all-rounder. In every conceivable setting, the scent is wearable without annoying those around you. Can you overdo it? Yes, but even then, you will hardly receive negative feedback. The top note with rosemary and lemon fades quite quickly, and a slightly medicinal note comes through, evoking associations with hemp. But don’t worry, both fragrance notes harmoniously blend in and are not challenging at any point. I don’t really perceive the oud, but I do notice the patchouli, amber, and my beloved sandalwood. The longevity is moderate, and I enjoyed it for six hours. By then, the next dose would be due. The comparison drawn by some influencers with Black Afgano is clearly understandable to me, only that Nero Nepal is simply more versatile and offers a better price-performance ratio. For me, an underrated fragrance with a clear recommendation.

Very Good Everyday Scent
I came across this fragrance through an influencer. The description of the scent immediately caught my attention. First of all, I can't really perceive the hemp. The oud note is also absent for me. Instead, I notice a pleasant and not too overpowering citrus note when I spray it. Later on, the patchouli and amber come through very well. The heart notes are not really discernible to my still untrained nose. I find the scent has a pleasant skin-close projection and can be worn well in everyday life. I would prefer to wear it in summer as it might radiate a bit more then. For this quality, it's an absolutely good price-performance ratio. The bottle could be designed more beautifully.

Green Landscape in Nepal Bottled
Nero Nepal takes my senses on a journey through the beauty of Nepal. The refreshing opening of citrus notes conveys a feeling of freedom. In the heart note, a certain balsamic quality unfolds; the hemp is hardly noticeable, not like with Hashabis. A hint of amber and wood rounds off the scent, which lasts a long time. However, this special fragrance is very similar to Black Afghano by Nasomatto. The problem, however, is the longevity and sillage, which unfortunately are not very strong, which is really a shame.

The wearable and friendly version of Black Afghano. Less Cannabis and more spicy woody. Really great release

Starts citrusy + immediately very spicy. Then becomes balsamic + art-woody with bitter-green accents. I don't recognize hemp. It's okay.

Failed copy of Black Afgano with a citrus opening and synthetic note. Really unnecessary - nobody needs this.

At first, I thought of Gucci Intense Oud, then again, and again...
It just smells like Gucci Intense Oud.

I get fizzy Coca-Cola, and it has slight vibes of my beloved Amber Star. For me, a great everyday scent.

FSK0 version of BA, mainly affects the H/S. It's more wearable, office-friendly, universal. The woods have really taken center stage.
