The scent that enchants you.

Today I received a sample of this wonderful fragrance, thanks to the lovely Gandix.

I sprayed it on and fell in love immediately, which is quite rare for me.

For me, the beginning is not like "Wish come true," but rather a gentle incense, simply beautiful.

Later, the scent becomes slightly sweeter until after hours vanilla and cashmeran join in, making the fragrance increasingly powdery, like a very soft cuddle blanket.

Despite its gentleness, the longevity is enormous; I can still smell it after 8 hours.

What a fantastic fragrance!!!!!!

New York, New York! *sing* Of course, no other title comes to mind with this fragrance name! :D
New York! The city that never sleeps!

New York! The theme of one of Frank Sinatra's most famous songs.

New York! The city where even small children can take down some criminals, as long as they are named Kevin and alone in New York!

New York! Well… this has to be said, especially since you all think of me as a quirky nerd: home of… Spider-Man! :DD (And by the way, New York served as the basis for designing Gotham City, the home of Batman! Mu ha ha ha!).

Well, this time Armani named the fragrance from his Privé Collection after this city, to which he has a special connection. Drawn by the sense of freedom in the city and his sense of modern luxury, Armani opened his first store in New York over 35 years ago. A little later, he also began to engage socially in the city, supporting schools, for example. In return, the city declared October 24th as Armani Day to honor the designer. Therefore, this fragrance was also named after this city.

The fragrance:
The fragrance starts off quite softly despite the spicy white pepper, which is probably the "work" of the iris, as it has a beautiful, powdery scent reminiscent of this note. The aldehydes are also noticeable, but they are rather weak, so one should not expect these notes to be as strong as, for example, in Chanel No 5.
Then there is a nice, delicate sweetness that should come from the musk. Overall, the combination of iris and musk smells very lovely here. A little later, some resinous incense joins in.
So, for quite a while, it smells just as described. Only after a few hours does the vanilla finally come in, making the fragrance even softer and more powdery, especially in combination with the iris and probably also the cashmeran, which is also a very soft scent note. The later base is also slightly sweeter because the musk radiates more strongly here. I could hardly make out neroli, and unfortunately not white tea either…
No matter, the fragrance has turned out very beautifully anyway.

The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is below average; it is good to smell up close for a while, but it does seem a bit discreet in its intensity and becomes noticeably weaker after three to four hours. The longevity, on the other hand, is really good, as the fragrance lasts longer than ten hours.

The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular and bulges outward at the top. On the front, there is a square indentation where a beautiful, violet label is embedded. The neck consists of a thin, golden ring on which the smooth, white, stone-like cap sits. As always, this bottle from the Privé line is not only high-quality but also looks great.

Yes, yes, this is typical again. I have a fragrance under my nose that smells simply wonderful with its iris-musk-vanilla combination, but it also smells very feminine, so this fragrance is once again not really for me. But I can highly recommend this fragrance to you ladies to at least give it a try if you get the chance.

And don't worry, I won't write that the fragrance will make you sooo sexy or sooo biteable (I really need to come up with new clichés!). But the fragrance feels sooo soft, just as you probably love: It feels like wrapping yourself in a totally cozy and comfortably soft blanket that is as soft as a baby cat's fur :))

But be careful if you are a cat owner,… because from my own experience, I know that these creatures also love such soft blankets and, well… take possession of them. And if you approach the blanket anyway, they meow with such loudness that you can't believe how much power can be in the voice of such a cuddly little cat. Of course, you are then delighted and want to cuddle the little thing, while the kitten probably just wants to drive you away with its meowing and have its peace, and is surely cursing inside :DD

Anyway, this fragrance is simply wonderful, and wonderfully soft as well. It actually feels spring-like and summery, but for me, it’s more of an all-rounder, as you could use it in autumn and winter to wrap yourself in a cozy blanket on cold and rainy days, looking out the window and occasionally nibbling on a cookie that is sitting in a small bowl next to the book or tablet, which the cat has of course already touched all over,… but you just don’t know it, so you happily continue eating cookies with “cat-paw flavor”… :))

In the Streets of New York City
New York is an iris scent for AugustA. Off-white, that is, cream-colored. The combination of silvery-cool iris with yellowish vanilla and something that reminds me of mimosa, that could be the peony-ambrette combination, delicately floral and subtly sweet. On top of this lies asphalt dust; it is the big city, shimmering and hazy at the same time. The typical Armani Privé character is mineral here, creating the sensation of rain on dry earth, perhaps in the park, perhaps in the streets.

The scent is bright, captivating, lively, and possesses a completely natural elegance.
After the initial mood described above, there is a more powdery phase, which is later replaced by a distinctly more vanilla note, cookie-like, vanilla sugar on some pastry in the street café. Far from gourmand, though. More like the scent of the bakery you pass by.
Before it becomes too sweet, a wonderful smoky note and bright wood pick up the scent again.

Inspiration and emotionality are perfectly balanced here. A scent that is definitely worth testing, though for AugustA it leans towards a winter fragrance; however, anyone who always enjoys a light sweetness can wear it comfortably year-round. I think it is bright-mundane and simply cuddly at the same time. This is an exceptionally captivating and exciting creation. Great cinema and a street hit. I like it.

Curiosity is Mephisto, the Devil Armani or How a Frustration Purchase Led Me to New York
New York, the city that never sleeps. A metropolis with a thousand facets, countless cultures, and a multitude of world-famous sights. Armani's tribute to the "Big Apple" with nearly 20 million inhabitants is a Privé fragrance in a simple white bottle adorned with a purple label, resembling a marble plaque. Sounds like a monument, perhaps a symbolic Statue of Liberty. And I could interpret a lot in terms of optics and haptics, if it weren't for the fact that every Privé bottle is designed according to the same scheme.

Armani's marketing department is well-versed in all (Christmas) waters. Perhaps that's why the launch of "Armani Privé - New York" feels so sacred? The gentlemen really lead us consumers by the nose. The team convinces us with a utopian price that we are holding the most luxurious and desirable bottle in our hands. With limitations and artificial scarcity, they make us believe that the olfactory opportunity will never come again, unless we act immediately and buy the both exclusive and restrictive edition. We know it, and yet we keep falling into the same fragrant trap. We humans are simply wired this way, desiring the most what is hard to obtain.

The bottle of New York was a frustration purchase. I love iris and was eager to test the highly praised Armani fragrance "Nuances." "Charm" would have satisfied me too. For weeks I lurked, checking the souk hourly. My curiosity grew and grew, my hunting instinct became stronger. But nothing could be done; no one offered the unique pieces. At some point, I discovered another beauty from the Privé series, got distracted, read the reviews, clicked, and bought. Just a small bottle for testing, otherwise I would probably miss another wonder of the world. : )

Yesterday, I was finally ready; the test was on. New York got to travel with me to Cologne. We went to the office together, and I was confident that an Armani knows etiquette and would behave well among honorable merchants. It did, but occasionally it distracted me from work, as my imagination ran wild. I spent about eight to ten hours in two parallel universes.

My day began at the same time in the sacred halls of my employer and in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the largest neo-Gothic cathedral in the United States. Unfortunately, the church door was stuck, and I was trapped in this beautiful building for three to four hours. Initially, incense dominates the olfactory overall picture, but the sacred presence is very finely woven with a clean scent. To be honest, the bright aura of the perfume initially reminds me of Boadicea's "Exotic," just without lavender.

Around noon, I was then allowed to continue strolling towards 5th Avenue. Instead of heading to an Armani boutique, I purposefully approached a Tom Ford store. Because in the middle phase, the scent is similar to "White Suede." One searches in vain for leather notes; instead, a slight creaminess mixes in. Slowly, this note becomes stronger. Fans of "Lilac Love" or "Cruel Gardénia" will surely find their pleasure here. At this point, the journey became almost too exhausting for me. But only almost, because the scent also takes on a cozy, slightly powdery twist. Probably Chasmeran is at play here, which has woody-musk notes. A complex interplay emerges, characterized by spicy, fruity, balsamic, and vanilla-like nuances.

And thus my tour ends at Times Square, the heart of Manhattan. Here, life pulses, the LED advertising spaces glow, one taxi follows another, but you can also sit back and relax in the pedestrian zone, passing the time with "people watching." The scent feels just like the colorful hustle and bustle in the center, exciting, awake, pleasant, and cheerful.

What I find remarkable about this perfume is that its development constantly takes a new direction. As soon as you think you've figured it out, you know where the journey is heading, you are surprised to find that you were mistaken. This makes the scent unique, varied, a bit restless but absolutely versatile and trendy. An artificially disguised rarity that is definitely worth encountering and will probably be sold out at Bergdorf Goodman in a few days.

Curiosity is Mephisto, and the most elegant devil of the local fashion planet is called Armani. And New York? Always worth a trip, even outside of Manhattan.

When Dreams Are Named Armani
Since it has already been mentioned, I can share my thoughts. So:
The surprising thing about the scent was that I actually expected a tea scent in the opening, and then there was incense in the opening. That really surprised me at first. In the opening, mind you, not in the base. I usually don't like that so much. But there was also a note right away that made me know I would like it. Normally, with perfumes, the other notes tend to evaporate and only the annoying incense remains. BUT not with New York. Something truly unique happens there. The incense gradually fades away, and the other beautiful notes come into play, so soft and creamy, with a hint of powderiness at the back.
It's like wearing a cashmere sweater; it's like a very creamy honeybush tea with a slight vanilla aroma; with a minimal floral touch: - the iris? Not dry at all, but very creamy-milky.
At the end, you can also notice the musk. If I now try to get something out of the empty TZ, it mainly smells of musk.
I believe you can also play nicely with the dosage of how much incense you want to smell.
The transformation from incense scent to cuddle madness is enormous.
I absolutely have to agree with Fröschlein and quote her: it’s beautifully tear-inducing.

A somewhat smooth fragrance with iris, peppery spice, and cool incense notes. Overall, it feels a bit sterile and colorless.

The delicate floral notes create a harmonious picture with the incense, which unfortunately gets gradually overshadowed by the Cashmeran note.

Something between cookie dough, fake flowers, and body lotion. The scent annoys me pretty quickly.

Art? Unfortunately, the cashmeran comes through in the drydown, just barely covered by the incense: the scent feels too artificially constructed for me.
