Pleasant but thin
Iris Bleu is an interesting perfume but not sure this interest equates to “needed”.
It opens with a nice, healthy burst of vegetal iris. This smells like the stems, flower and leaves. It actually smells like wet iris flowers to me in the open. It is this unique character that caused me to nab a full bottle.
But as I have had a chance to wear it for 2mos, the novelty of the opening has worn a bit thin.
The orris is almost completely nonexistent by mid and utterly vacant by the base. What’s left to Iris Bleu is the “blue” imagery, frankly, the aquatic notes and musk anchoring the perfume to a nostalgic scent I know I’ve smelled before (or it reminds me of something I’ve smelled before) though I can’t quite place it.
Overall it’s a pleasant enough offering from Armani Privé but I’m not convinced serious iris lovers will find enough orris here to satisfy. The iris note is simply too “thin” by the middle to call this an “iris perfume”. It’s an aquatic floral musk with an interesting iris opening.
