Roses and fruits, but ...?
I recently learned that my mother switched her long time favorite L'Air du Temps Eau de Toilette (sad day indeed) for the Si Passione line. i'm not sure I have the same as her (since the bottles of the Si line all look the same and I also have a mini dabber), but I was certain I'd never want to wear this perfume for two reasons: I don't want to be wearing the same perfume as my mother and we don't like the same perfumes. I just want you all to be aware these two reasons might have tainted my review.
So as soon as I sprayed it on my skin, I felt this weird scent coming through. Not quite flowers and not quite fruity. That's when I realized I have smelled this weird off-putting scent somewhere: it's the white musk. I have noted that musk tends to go either way: it can be a nice comfy one, or a dirty-smelling one. This time it was the latter. It overpowered absolutely everything, leaving almost no place for the fruits or roses. There was also this background waxy synthetic scent that just didn't help the overall vibe. After about 30 minutes the bourbon vanilla starts to come out but it's in all shades of wrong. It adds this earthy, dirty (slightly sweet) layer and... Nah. This one is definitely not for me.
I'd be curious to smell the other Si perfumes just to figure out if this one was the only stick in the mud, but because of this experience, I'm not compelled to go and sniff the others. I think it really smells quite mature (which might be another reason why I didn't like it). In general it's not for me, but others could better appreciate it for sure.
