Sharp, classy woody blend
Goldfield & Banks Wood Infusion is a nicely modern fresh spicy resinous woody scent that could easily be part of a men’s collection in a variety of houses, mixing together what is presumably a variety of woods (based on the note listing) with iris, oud, lavender, patchouli, and amber, mainly. It opens brightly and dries down more darkly but has a similar-enough character throughout, a bit sharp but multifaceted and nuanced, seemingly a cousin of Tom Ford Oud Wood. Though it’s nothing terribly new, I still quite like it and it’s a very sturdy offering in within a line that otherwise does not include wood-heavy fragrances.

The current pricing for most of the main collection is $190 for 100ml and is sold at US boutiques like Perfumology, and like most of the line, it performs quite well, and the value is very good.

Soft woods from down under
As I had ordered the Discoveryset, I was able to indulge my olfactory passion with relish.

The opening is creamy and orangey, soft and loving, with the iris friendly and sweet in the background. Nothing is scratchy and my first thought is: clearly ambiguous! Can be worn by both men and women. The patchouli also leisurely takes over the room, the oud plays its civilized chords and my mood actually gets better and better.

Great, I think, inspired by the hope that it will stay that way. Unrealistic of course, everything in life is change and then the wood comes around the corner and stays there until the end. Even though I'm starting to get a little bored, it occurs to me that there are moments in life when it doesn't have to be exciting.

Overall, a really delicious fragrance, and the term also refers to the cuteness of the scent. Unfortunately, it is a little weak on the chest and after 2 hours you can still smell it at most 20 cm from the skin. I'm secretly hoping for an extrait, that would be exciting. Highly recommended for people with jobs that involve working close to other people. Not everyone's nose likes ethylmaltol penetrations to the point of epilepsy, so I can recommend Wood Infusion. Not just for Australians.

Questionable Quality
Purchased this cologne and thought it was fairly decent, albeit a bit overly sweet. Then one day I purchased some woody air freshers for my apartment (for $12.99) that smelled 100% identical. This made me really question the overall quality of the ingredients used in this fragrance. I'm guessing that Wood Infusion is almost entirely synthetic.

Wood Infusion certainly fascinated me. I am fascinated by his ability to create tension between the natural and the synthetic. Sometimes I smell it and think of dry desserts larded with burnt, dried-out pieces of wood, while sometimes I think of rich oils made in a laboratory. It is this ever-evolving sense of confusion that makes Wood Infusion an interesting garment, but most of all it smells good, like an aura of soft, woody warmth that is truly soothing.

I like this!!! Masculine, not overly oudy, fresh and woody. Not too spicy, and definitely something I can see myself wearing more.

Beautiful floral, woody opening, but I was somewhat disappointed by the dry down. It quickly turned into a more generic spicy-woody smell.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. It's the woodiest out of the line without being overwhelming. Provocative and makes you think.

Soft, creamy lavender-iris with an orange top coat, backed by oud. Pungent opening but sweetens as patchouli + amber intensify in drydown.
