Gucci Guilty, but finally grown up!
Personal: 8/10 – This is the first Guilty that actually feels mature to me. Darker, smoother, and more confident without trying too hard, or leaning into objective weirdness to be 'unqiue'.
Mass appeal: 9/10 – Very approachable and broadly likable, but refined enough that it doesn’t feel loud, juvenile, or dated. Almost universally likable.
Performance: 7/10 – Better than expected for something from the Guilty line. Solid longevity with controlled projection that stays present without becoming intrusive.
Value: 6.5/10 – Not cheap, but fair for a designer bottle that's as smooth and rich as this. It has enough character to warrant the price, if you like it.
Uniqueness: 6.5/10 – It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s easily the most refined and self-aware version of the Guilty DNA.

SCORE: 74/100

Full bottle buy? YES, despite feeling kind of 'blah', it's actually a great dumb reach if you like fresh, appealing, slightly sweet woods with a dark twist.
Blind buy? YES, very safe if you’ve liked any Guilty in the past, and even safer if you’ve wanted something smoother and darker.
Recommend? YES, especially to people who wrote Guilty off years ago and assumed the line never matured. This version had to go through some tough times, and grew from it.
Date night? YES, clean, warm, confident, and easy to wear without feeling generic, though not particularly seductive.
Office safe? YES, probably the most office-appropriate Guilty to date.

Pros: Smooth and refined, darker and more mature execution, versatile for day or night, mass appealing without being annoying and an overly generic DNA.
Cons: Still firmly designer-safe, not particularly daring, price could be lower, Guilty name still carries baggage from years of mediocrity.

Guilty Parfum is what I actually wanted from the Guilty line. It has character, (some) depth, (some) personality, and just enough nuance that you might actually enjoy smelling yourself, as opposed to tuning it out after an hour. It evolves into a smooth, sweet, rich combination of woods as it dries down, which, despite its average longevity, sticks around much longer than any drydown of Guilty Parfum's flanker cousins. The citruses and floral notes all kind of mush together to create a fairly warm, summery overtone that disappears within about an hour or two, and the dry woods, musk, patchouli, and nutmeg really stick around in the base giving off a fairly proud, warm, sweet woody body that's really... uninteresting.

Look, it's good, and I like it, but it's still from the Guilty line. Not anywhere near revolutionary, but at least this one makes people go 'huh, that's nice' when someone smells it, as opposed to 'was that guy wearing cologne?'.

Review #168 in my fragrance journey – this fragrance I own as a decant

A top shelf scent with dollar store longevity
Purchased from : N/A
Price Paid : N/A
Do not own
Method : 3x spray on arm or wrist, two different times

This is a pissed off review. This perfume is like a girl that makes you fall for her and even impresses you over the course of 2 or 3 dates, gets your hopes up, and then drops the bomb that she's married.

I fell in love with this scent (NOT the EDP, NOT the EDT, NOT the Elixir, NOT the Essence...THIS one) at first spray. Guns in both arms, blazing away. CHOOM CHOOM. Double barrel, baby. Then I saw the price. A little disheartened, I searched online. I was ready to pull the trigger on a 6.7oz whopper but I figured I should go back and test it on my skin first.

Scent on my skin was, as on the tester, fantastic. It blew me away. Smells like newly shampooed floor mats in a car along with fresh leather. It smells like you're buying a new car and makes you feel that way too. Or, you had your favorite car completely detailed. Very svelte, very smooth, very bougee.

It stays that way and projects 2" off the skin for the first lap. Zero complaints. Then it fades to an intimate smell around 50 minutes, nearly having to touch the nub of your nose to your hand to get the same strength. I'd be fine with this if it stayed at that strength for another 4 hours, but no, at exactly 2 hours, it fades like a forgotten memory. Sure, even up to hour #3 I can put my nostrils right up and honk my skin to get a scent but even then it's a desperate grab.

I went back today and experienced the same sad longevity.

This might be a worthy purchase in the big bottle if you can get it on sale, and be willing to re-spray every 2 hours. The scent is THAT good. But it is horribly lacking in performance. I am convinced that at retail, this is one of the worst values on the market.

Before you fall in love, test its longevity first - this is an exciting fling, not a marriage.

Guilty of not being good
What a smell!!!! Considering the price, my opinion gets even worse. It starts with a bit of all three notes listed in the pyramid, none stands out above the others, all are hinted at and do not stand out due to naturalness or other. Subsequently, in the central part an amber accord (sweet enough to be unisex) is increasingly prominent, which already peeked out behind the opening notes from the beginning. It reminded me of certain versions of Playboy. There's a hint of wood coming through in the finish, but it's still the ambroxan that dominates. For the record, orange blossom, nutmeg, Spanish cistus and patchouly are absolutely not noticeable

A safe compromise
There I was sat on some hard unforgiving grass. Sat in little to no shade in some random girl parent’s garden, while she struggled to get Lenny Kravitz ‘Let Love Rule’ to play out of some small speakers from her Walkman all the while trying to be cool and nonchalant. At the same time flirting, laughing at all the witty and sardonic quips. Happy hair tossing, all doe eyes and searching questions.

I’m sat bored, awkward, annoyed and ignored. None of this performance was for me. I’m just an accessory.

I’m just sat there waiting for my brother to notice this 90s middle class ingénue and throw the poor girl the attention she’s struggling to get.

I don’t really know if this moment actually happened. I don’t know if it’s part of a lost summer or part of a dream. A shit dream. I don’t really know if I can trust my recollection as there’s factors that deceive and elements that appear as fact.

That is the long winded way of saying that though this iteration of the Guilty fragrance line is pleasant; I can’t trust any part of my experience of it as though parts of it are fine and nice they’re at the same time tediously familiar and banal.

I think this is a good fragrance but it’s not got anything about it that makes me think that there’s a story behind it. It’s creativity via marketing and margins. Ultimately it’s just a thing that is there without any fanfare or deeper presence - I bet when it was launched there was little relief or anxiety about its potential or performance. Just a sniff, and on to the next one.

Also this brings up the image of a white late 80s-early 90s convertible Mercedes E-class. No reason why…maybe that girl’s mum owned one.

Pleasant Scent in Incredibly Beautiful Bottle
The Gucci Guilty pour Homme is a fragrance that is fundamentally solid and nothing more.
I first smelled it in a perfume shop around the corner from me. It was a time when I was looking for a solid designer fragrance that isn't worn by everyone at the Sauvage Eau de Parfum level and is well-known. When I came across Gucci Guilty, I first had to get an overview of which version appealed to me the most. When I encountered the bottle of Guilty for the first time, I was blown away by its beauty. I don't know what it is, but I love this bottle. The fragrance I want to discuss in more detail has a typical designer characteristic.
Right! It is pleasing. Since I started wearing Gucci Guilty, I've been receiving compliments. Not because the scent is extremely good or has a mega sillage, no no. You simply smell pleasantly good and well-groomed with it, without being intrusive. The fragrance notes blend well together. Personally, I perceive the Italian lemon the strongest, but not in a sour form. Paired with the dry woods in the base, it feels much earthier and slightly sweet, like sweetened lemon tea.
Feel free to let me know if I could help you with this review. Have a nice day.

This one is actually better than 90% of the new releases. A nice woody aromatic with a lemon on top. Pretty close to the OG but better.

I tested it in store spraying onto the back of my hand. Just half an hour later, it had faded into a ghost of itself. Parfum? Gucci, please.

Pleasant fresh woody lavender. Aromatic lavender mixed with teeny tiny bits of the other top and mid notes, over an ambery woody base.
