I am speechless...
These are times of new and modern,
but I always have a yearning i aspire to the old and the far,
and transport me to an old bay
A view over the coast,
and I see the open sea a gust of wind brushes the gaps,
and I can't feel anything anymore
Woke up from this dream,
i now have you in my hand indescribably you fill the room,
like someone's casting a spell on me [...]
I came across this Guerlain fragrance by pure coincidence here at Parfumo, whose bottle captivated me the very first time I caught it. So noble, clear, chic and transparent, as I've hardly seen before. Enthusiastic about the design, I looked at its composition and became even more curious...

"Flowery chypre-ish"?! Oh yes, I'll definitely like it!", I was immediately convinced and ordered a bottling here.
And when I tested these at home, I was blown away from the first whiff. Away from this world, off towards the other world, a world where only me and him are...

"He," yes, by which I mean this fragrance. It is these enchanting moments that make me so happy, when I am fascinated by a fragrance from the very beginning and it transports me to another galaxy. And this one absolutely belongs to ...

When he came out, I was far from being born and even my parents were still children at that time, but from time to time I feel more and more attracted to fragrances that are just a little older. For me they radiate a charm, shine and aura that I often miss in many newer fragrances.

The opening of the fragrance is flowery and citrusy fresh I would say; that's what the citrus fruits and the garden honeysuckle provide. But the floral is further accentuated by other enchanting flowers, such as those of gardenia and jasmine. Until the fragrance then comes across as slightly woody and especially mossy and minimally earthy and leathery at the base. This is also responsible for the chypre-like character, which, including the easily perceptible creamy vanilla, makes it both beautiful and interesting for me.

In my opinion you can wear the fragrance all year round without any problems. He is one who has absolutely the potential to be a so-called "a so-called signature scent. And if I had to commit to one or more seasons, I'd probably choose spring and autumn, which I think would be the best time to use it
The shelf life is for me personally with good 6h completely sufficient and the Sillage is rather moderate; this smell is well room filling in the first 1-2h. Afterwards it stays, like a fine lady, covered and captivates with understatement and stylish and elegant class.
Conclusion:
As I mentioned a couple of times, I don't care about gender divisions in fragrances anyway. He may be classified for women, but he has inspired me so much that I am looking forward to welcoming him in my collection soon.

The Chant d'Arômes, an "aromatic song", is a floral, fresh and intense mossy-woody scent.
Airy-light and green he lies in the air and I am delighted.

And I thank again from the bottom of my heart the lovely perfuma 'Berettino', which sent me small samples as an extra to my order. If you are reading this, feel very much pressed...
[...]

And of course, as always, thanks to all who have read along so far.

made out of love
At the age of 18, Jean-Paul Guerlain began his apprenticeship as a "nose".
As the grandson of Jacques, again a grandson of the dynasty's founder, he was already hereditarily predisposed.
That was in 1955; he assisted in the creation of "Ode", his grandfather's last creation.
Already in 1959, he created his own fragrance for men and three years later his first major perfume for women: "Chant d'Arômes".

This, his first masterpiece, he dedicated to the woman he loved.
"Who knows better how to make a woman smell than a man?" this man, who especially loved women and flowers, will say one day.
The enchanting backstory to this was reported to me by Marieposa, from whom I also received a bottling of this wonderful fragrance.
(Thank you so much for that, dear! Although I was recently told I didn't have to thank her; but I see it differently!)
Jean-Paul Guerlain's young wife always wore Carven's "Ma Griffe" with great passion at the beginning of their marriage.
This did not please the chief perfumer of the house of Guerlain of course at all and he set everything to create a fragrance that convinced his lady of heart of his abilities as a "nose" and thus to eliminate the competitor also in the private sphere.
Thus was born "Chant d'Arômes" - the "song of aromas"!

As a member of the Chypre family, "Chant d'Arômes" speaks the language of flowers.
Each one has its own special meaning, which can be traced back to the language of flowers that originated in the seraglio of a Turkish sultan.
Thus, "Chant d'Arômes" became a spring bouquet as a token of love to his wife: cheerful and charming and immediately giving the impression of freshness.
Self-confident women love to perfume themselves for their own sake: they don't need any other occasion!
The first impression of "Chant d'Arômes" is therefore hesperidic scents; one of the important components of classic chypre fragrances.
These draw a hint of honeysuckle - wonderfully beguiling in its honey note!
The further development of the fragrance blends into a cheerful chorus of flowers: the noble gardenia; the pipebush, here as "pale jasmine" harbinger of the intensely fragrant white-flowered beauty that never fails to delight me.
And not to be forgotten: Ylang-Ylang, which does not bear the Latin epithet "Odorata" without good reason: its fragrance embraces generously and lovingly - as it does here.
These radiant blossom voices cheer towards the fragrant sky and flatter woman and soul.
But the beat of this chorus is ultimately set by the duller vibrations: those of oakmoss, earthy vetiver, erotic sandalwood and resinous benzoin.
The great fragrance finale is concluded by sensual-warm swirls of dark purple vanilla flower / heliotrope and creamy-bearing vanilla.

Thus arises the fragrant declaration of love to a very special woman and at the same time to all women.
"Chant d'Arômes" is a gift to all women; a gift from a man who understood us women.

As "Chant d'Arômes" is a spring fragrance, sillage and longevity are not infinite; but faithfully and lovingly caressing: an embrace of the beloved in fragrance form!

The time to listen to the "song of aromas" will come this year yet.
The time to wear "Chant d'Arômes" is right now and whenever we want it!
Because for a declaration of love is always the right time!

Here I'm a girl, here I can be a girl
I wrote this review in Word in advance. To publish, my daughter had to open the fragrance page and scroll everything to me so that I do not see the ingredients. The reason:

I don't want it. =:-I

It was my birthday at the end of February, and my husband got a list of fragrances I'd be happy with. He picked this one out for me and - what could hardly be more opposite - the Ginger Lover by Azzaro. Grins.

So both were on the dining room table in the morning with a bouquet of flowers, candle and stuffed animal. The Chant d'Arômes I immediately unpacked and sprayed on. I was blown away by this lovely, fine fragrance. And it lives up to its name, is as generally described: You really can't smell any flower in particular. All sing in a harmonious fragrance chorus.

He is a bit powdery, but not too much.

He is also not too flowery (for me).

It's silky soft and light, but still has character.
It made me feel like a young girl - but also like a seasoned lady.

How does he do it, I wondered.

Then announced to my husband that I don't even want to know the ingredients for now. Movie quote from Tomb Raider: "My ignorance amuses me!" I would only look the next day, I said. But I didn't. Nor the day after that. I wore it all weekend.

The following week, I likewise didn't want to destroy the fine magic with mundane, scientific knowledge.

By the following weekend, the flowers had wilted, but I wanted to recapture the birthday feeling and wore it several times. Even used a shower gel to match, namely "Fiorito" by Bioearth.

That was two weeks ago now. As I clean, I grin at the bottle in love (by the way, it's not like the one pictured here, but more like the beehives from the Aqua Allegoria range). I can still hear the fragrant harmony singing and don't want to know what's inside.

This can now remain so.

Natural Noblesse
During my beginning as a sales assistant in a noble perfume shop I always was awestruck when somebody was wearing Chant d'Aromes. Even today, I remember all those posh women: Mrs. So-and-so and her kind, who dropped by in the afternoon just to find out if there was something new. They were served a glass of champagne or a cup of coffee, and with a bill of 500 Deutsche Mark and a coloured bag, they left to continue their shopping.

Chant d'Aromes emanates this natural noblesse of these customers. These were not the nouveau riche, or a dyed blond person on high heels who pulls bundles of bank notes out of her handbag. Today I consider to get Chant d'Aromes for myself. Perhaps this perfume provides that kind of noblesse that I am missing. I have never worn it so far, but it is simply enchanting.

Chant d'Aromes is a pale green, transparent chypre fragrance with an elegant aura. The top note promises a very special Guerlain experience. It does not have any sweetness, although the heart note looks differently in the scent pyramid. On the other hand, it is not tart as well. Maybe it is a bit soapy but in a very refined way. I would describe the temperature of this fragrance as rather chilly, and the expression of the flowers is discreet in an unfamiliar way.

Chant d'Aromes rounds off with a note of oak moss that I love so much. But noboby has to be afraid of dark, mossy base notes since also the base notes are bright and caressing.

Chant d'Aromes does not put its mark on the wearer. It does not go strong, instead it subordinates to its wearer quite natural. My clients in the 1960's would have regarded Chant d'Aromes as day wear. If I wore it, any day would feel like holiday. Yes, Chant d'Aromes is what is still missing in my Guerlain collection, so the only thing I can to is to extend my wishlist. May thanks to Turmalin, for renewing my acquaintance with it so pleasantly.

Chiffon Aquarelle
Chant d'Aromes could have made our world (at least on the olfactory level) insanely better, had the young forayers into Perfumeland chosen it as their entry-level fragrance. And think about it, they could have - had they been given a chance.

This gentle ladylike composition is all about soft focus and seamless blending. It starts with a medley of somewhat nondescript green notes, not entirely unlike Chamade, but softer sans the galbanum. The green makes way for a floral heart, with a veil of sparkling aldehydes thrown over an amalgam of pastel flowers, that feels like a perfect chiffon summer dress swirling about one’s body in the warm breeze. About three hours in, Chant d'Aromes veers in the familiar direction of Mitsouko and takes on a woody chypre quality, all the while retaining its transparent watercolor feel. It doesn't seem to have a distinct drydown phase so much as meld into the skin and create a glowing aura, at once spring like and mellow.
In my personal Utopia young girls shall receive a bottle of Chant d'Aromes as their first real perfume, and wiped out be the horrid confections that market analysts and accountants expect them to wear. One can dream, right?
