Spring Morning
A scent like a spring morning with an open window: clear, bright, and unpretentious. At the center are lily of the valley - green, slightly soapy, and very present without being loud. They unfold on a base of freshly cut grass and soft foliage, giving the whole a natural grounding.

Nothing weighs down, nothing burdens. Instead, the fragrance feels like a brief moment of pause - you feel the wind, hear the rustling of the trees, smell the first green. The floral heart remains transparent and pleasantly cool, almost like damp flowers after a light summer rain.

It wears effortlessly: not intrusive, but also not trivial. Not a scent that demands attention - rather one that fits seamlessly into the day. For those who enjoy floral freshness without slipping too much into the soapy or "cleaning product" territory, this is a charming, understated option.

Today is "Lily of the Valley Day"
Yes, I know: today is the second Advent and also St. Nicholas Day.
But this year is different, and why, I ask you, can today not be "Lily of the Valley Day" for me? - Well, you see!
Our world of fragrance has its own laws anyway: Welcome "Lily of the Valley Day"!

The French have, for whatever reason, chosen May 1st as "Lily of the Valley Day".
What a lovely thought: instead of making noise and possibly even causing chaos at demonstrations, to honor spring with this pretty little bell.
If only we could all hear it ring on this occasion.
Then we would know it is spring, which still has so much to say to us.

And of course, commerce is also enthusiastically participating, especially every company that is even remotely related to fragrances.
Why not? Since Christian Dior's first successful lily of the valley scent "Diorissimo" (how I loved that back then!), it has secured its place as a soloist in our fragrance orchestra!

The fragrance sample I have comes from one of the "Muguet Millésime 2018" bottles; a truly beautiful piece filled with "Muguet 2016".

Guerlain does not let its lily of the valley appear alone; it is far too virginal, white, and pure here.
(In stark contrast to my still dearly loved "Le Muguet" by Annick Goutal, which is already a bit worn!)
It needs a suitable accompaniment, which it finds in a green bed that provides the right foundation and highlights its clear, very intense day.
Similarly, pure white jasmine generously and lovingly contributes its youthful scent from floral sunny golden faces with large petals.
Two of my beloved "little stinkers" and true scents of femininity unite here.
But of course, Her Highness Rose must not be missing.
The rose can encompass many complex scents through the delicacy of its silky petals, which it later "refines" to complete a fragrance creation.
(Her Majesty is thus a little chemical factory!)

This would explain why Guerlain's "Muguet 2016" smells so special: its individual fragrance components love and embrace each other, forming a harmonious whole.
Thus, this charming being adorns and enchants for several hours; it remains as pure and clear as it was sprayed and shines like the young spring.

Although I will continue to cherish my "Le Muguet", it is a great joy to know and wear Guerlain's lily of the valley creation 2016: even at the beginning of December!

For of course, I do not forget:
My dear fragrance friends; today is the second Advent and St. Nicholas is still on his way!
Please enjoy this Sunday; with whatever soul fragrance it may be!

Every year again!
Muguet is a fragrance that is slightly changed (or at least presented in a different bottle) every year, released right on May 1st by Guerlain. As always, it comes in a limited quantity, usually between 1500 and just over 2000 bottles (the 2016 version here was produced 2148 times).

It is a symbolic scent for lovers, as the fragrance celebrates May Day, when lovers gift each other lily of the valley, … um,… or something like that, if I understood correctly :D

Well, that is romantic for some, while for others it may be a perfume that is a bit too expensive, as it smells nice but isn’t really that special… when it comes to the scent itself.

The scent:
The fragrance itself is very simply constructed. You can smell slightly sweet, floral notes that should come from the lily of the valley flowers. Above all, however, the perfume exudes wonderful green notes. The jasmine, which makes the scent sweeter, is in my opinion not as strong as it is described here.
Towards the end, the fragrance also has a slightly herbaceous scent, but it remains pleasant and fresh. It is also gentle and soft; I would describe it as somewhat creamy, but rather less powdery.

The sillage and longevity:
Unfortunately, the projection of the fragrance is weak. It will hardly be noticeable on someone and is probably more suited as a cuddle scent (even though I actually don’t like that term…).
On the other hand, the longevity is surprisingly high, as it was detectable on my skin for more than eight hours.

The bottle:
A special fragrance should also come in a special bottle. First of all, it is rectangular and tall, filled with a lush green fragrance liquid. At the neck, there is a light green ribbon, and the cap is thin and rectangular. This is how the bottle looked back in 2011 as well. However, this time, there is a silver-coated plaque on the front, featuring beautifully crafted silhouettes of lily of the valley. All in all, a very beautiful bottle.

The fragrance is good, yes. It is even very nice. You probably sense that my BUT is coming now.

But: The fragrance doesn’t smell particularly special to me. Okay, the fragrance materials smell good and, of course, natural :D
But despite the lovely scent notes, it mainly smells green with a sweet undertone and some herbaceous notes, just like many other green fragrances, and it doesn’t really stand out from them. Okay, the longevity is indeed long here, but that’s about it…

And then there’s the price of over 400 euros, which is high only because the fragrance is strictly limited and, if I remember the saleswoman's explanation correctly, also consists of high-quality fragrance materials. However, it is also intended as a symbolic gesture, so the fragrance itself seems almost irrelevant. Those who can afford it will receive a (unisex) scent that smells beautifully green and is a nice companion for spring and summer.

Everyone else can look at hundreds of other green fragrances (or sniff them??) that smell just as good.
A true Guerlain fan might eventually want to get such a fragrance since, as mentioned, it is released anew every year. A true Guerlain fan, on the other hand, will probably want them all.

But better all Muguet fragrances than all… um… Pokémon in Pokémon Go!... ah, who is annoyed by that game with its daily mentions in various news anyway?

But maybe this way people can also get to know each other while hunting Pokémon together. And if they haven't died, they continue to hunt creatures and gift each other Muguets (hm, even the name of the fragrance almost sounds like a Pokémon … :D).

A lily of the valley scent that makes you float; even in October rain: fruity, ripe, and white, garnished with jasmine, resting on a green cushion.

I have an incurable weakness for lily of the valley and Guerlain, so I have to like this combination, even if it's very strict here.

Truly a sacrilege, but I must tell you: Muguet smells terribly artificial & intensely like plastic lily of the valley. Yuck!

Lily of the valley and rose in an unaffordable luxury version. Quite pretty. But I suspect it can be found cheaper somewhere.

Starts with a nasty 00-jasmine along with a soapy synthetic bell, softens and becomes more bearable after 15 minutes, but remains extremely disappointing!
