Elevated Aqua Allegoria
Upon first smelling Herbes Troublantes, I was not super impressed. In all honesty, I wrote it off for some time, condemning it for it's price, and holding the opinion that the fragrance would have been better suited for the fresh and breezy Aqua Allegoria line. However, after wearing it my opinion changed dramatically. While it's freshness does still give me the same feeling as the Aqua Allegoria fragrances do, the quality and overall blend of Herbes Troublantes lands it quite a few notches above Aqua Allegoria. The opening is bright and fresh, rooted in classic citrus accords of bergamot and lemon, with an invigorating herbal side that feels very awakening. As it dries it becomes a very supple floral fragrance with just a slight touch of neroli and a clean musky note, with an herbal background that feels a bit spicier than the one from the opening. This is a very clean and zesty fragrance that I can see being very appealing to the masses, while still setting itself out from the crowd. And for the record, I actually found this one to be a good performer as well, despite it's relatively light nature.

As I work my way through my L'Art & La Matière samples, it's clear that the collection as a whole is very well crafted and artistic, even if I don't personally enjoy some of them. Herbes Troublantes is certainly not exempt from this, and finds itself in the perfect balance between mass appealing and niche, being one of the pinnacles of the fresher fragrances in this collection. I will certainly recommend this one to anyone who wants a fresh fragrance with a more unique attitude than others have.

Green Icequeen.
I was very curious about Herbes Troublantes, literally translated: disturbing herbs. In my view, Guerlain pays tribute to Cologne water with this perfume.

With the last convulsions of the Black Knight from Francesca Bianchi, I went for a run in the afternoon with Guerlain's 'disturbed herb garden' on my wrists. The opening is familiar, lots of citrus, slightly sharp and it immediately reminded me of Xerjoff's Nio. That is a beautiful scent, but where Nio sometimes reminds me of a super luxurious, first-class all-purpose cleaner (which is fine by the way), HT does not. Nio becomes slightly bitter, Herbes Troublantes slightly sweet.

After about 15 minutes the herb garden comes up and something special happens, which I can best describe as a green, crackling coolness. The mint takes over like an ice queen walking out of the dew-covered field into the citrus orchard. She brings freshness and alertness with her, animals freeze, birds stop whistling….. Is that the disturbing element that Thierry Wasser and Delphine wanted you to notice?

And then it's quiet………..
feels a bit like an interlude in a song by the Irish band Clannad. Kind of a vacuum, where you wonder what's coming. Magnificent….

After an hour the sun comes out again, the fog disappears and the birds start to chirp again. The Ice Empress fades, blending into the sky, taking the ethereal citrus with her.
What remains is a clean, almost spot-free area in the field.
It’s very beautiful, but also a pity, because as I have with all perfumes from the L'art et Matiere collectie, the durability is moderate. And yet that is no reason for me not to buy this perfume. I will spray every 2 hours!

This fragrance, a “Parfum de Cologne”, with a beautiful disruptive element, has such a nice twist, that I would wear it day and night. Even in winter during a gala evening. Even then, she may have a 'disruptive' effect and distinguish herself from all those other warm, sweet and dense winter perfumes.

Personal nostalgia in a bottle
Guerlain Herbes Troublantes became the scent of my summer. Honestly even better than Imagination when the heat really settled in. It’s fresh, green, and effortlessly smooth, the kind of fragrance that feels like warm light and calm air.

I wore it every single day during the summer of 2025, especially on our family trip to Mallorca. That’s where this fragrance rooted itself deep in my memories. Every time I smell it, I’m taken straight back to slow mornings together, the sound of laughter at breakfast, the sun on our skin, and the simple joy of being close to the people I love most.

And I know this scent will stay with me far beyond this year. Twenty or thirty years from now, when my children are grown, I’ll spray Herbes Troublantes with a smile because it will bring back those precious moments, the carefree days, and all the warm, genuine laughter we shared as a family.

This bottle isn’t just a fragrance; it’s a memory I’ll carry for life. It will always have a permanent place in my collection.

Best freshie with an Achillies Heel
It is one of the best fresh, green scent.. it is like an elevated version of Imagination but remove tea note.. its like a luxury scent.
Only buy it when you have extra cash
Every strong things always have a weakness and Herbes' achillies heel is the longevity and sillage..
For me, at the start, i was focused on day long fragrances but as i have almost smelt 100+ fragrances, i have come to a conclusion that scent complexity is more important than longevity.. i always have a decant in my bag and after 3-4, reapply again..
This is also a scent that gives me alot of compliments apart from Greenley

Beautiful herbaceous fresh fragrance, but inexpensive alternatives exist.
Herbes Troublantes is the rebranded Un Dimanche à la Campagne from Guerlain. Attribution of Guerlain perfumes to a specific perfumer is complicated because it is rarely disclosed. Thierry Wasser is the designer behind Un Dimanche à la Campagne, according to Parfumo. Jelk is quoted on the webpage for Herbes Troublante, but it is not clear if she is the only one. You see both Delphine Jelk and Thierry Wasser introducing every perfume in the L’Art & La Matière collection on Guerlain website. This review of Herbes Troublantes is based on a sample I bought from eBay.

Herbes Troublantes is a simple fresh fragrance that evokes many other colognes that came before. The notes listed most websites are accurate and aligns with what Guerlain lists on their website. Herbes Troublantes starts like a conventional eau-de-cologne, a citrusy, herbaceous fresh fragrance with musk and floral notes. The citrus is primarily bergamot as expected, but I also get a whiff of lemon. The mint and rosemary, along with thyme helps differentiate this scent from the typical department store colognes by adding some extra elegance. The gentle floral note of orange blossom and musk are detectable in the opening but gain more prominence after the citrus and herbs subside. These two notes form the canvas on which the other notes are painted on. Herbes Troublantes is beautiful but short-lived on my skin.

In accordance with the perfumer’s vision, Herbes Troublantes shows a soft performance with mediocre longevity. The perfumer marks its intensity as 2 out of 4. The citrus and the herbaceous notes subside in a few hours, and the musky intimate cologne scent continues for a few more hours. The sillage is intimate and lovely, clearly noticeable in the first few hours. It works great as an office scent but needs freshening up at lunch.

Herbes Troublantes is lovely cologne, but it does not stand out in the world of citrus herbaceous colognes. I cannot say a single thing bad about it. But I can’t highlight any great quality, nor explain why it costs five times as much as the L’Occitane colognes or other freshies like Floris Limes. Even many perfumes from the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Forte series appear to be strong competition to Herbes Troublantes, though I have not compared them head-to-head. Herbes Troublantes is not worth $395 for 100 ml, but I wouldn’t quibble if you buy a 20 ml flacon for $90. Just remember that are a lot of inexpensive alternative options available.

Metallic watery citrus and a stale Eau de Cologne.
It’s not very herbal, and troubling
only because it’s so poor.
Like a Chrome flanker.

It is repackaged Un Dimanche à la Campagne. Really nice freshie that grew on me over time. Can’t imagine my summer without it now.

This is one of the few perfumes giving me inner peace and happiness in the chaos! Enough said.

Could've been beautiful if it wasn't so faint on my skin. Delicate herbs, citrus freshness with orange blossom and musk. Soothing aromatics.

Nice smell, horrible longevity and sillage. Masculine in my opinion.
