A Successful Balancing Act

Tabac Nomad is an extraordinary fragrance - fascinating, addictive, and very potent.
However, it is also a balancing act - its opulence is almost overwhelming; as attractive as it is, it can also be demanding, and it is so strong that it must be applied in moderation.
In my eyes, this tightrope walk is successful.
For me, it is the best tobacco scent I know.
The DNA is not new - "Side Effect | Initio," for example, also combines tobacco with saffron, vanilla, and tipsy fruits.
But Tabac Nomad adds something to this olfactory seduction - it is not just this almost gourmand-like, sweet attraction that emanates from it, but it also has a wickedness from the warm leather, a masculinity from its dark spice, and a classic touch from its rose, making it much more complex and particularly more mature. In this respect, it fits the house of Houbigant, although it is quite an unusually modern release for them and, with its sex appeal, does not quite belong to the otherwise largely classic-clean portfolio.
The aforementioned scent balancing act also makes it attractive across generations - in the complex mélange, young (fruit, sweetness) and older noses (tobacco, rose) will find something they will enjoy. However, it also makes the fragrance less universally wearable - the fruity tipsiness clashes with the concentrated office routine, and the dark spice with a cheerful family day trip: It is a fragrance for long evenings at the bar, for a sociable gathering of gentlemen, or for special occasions like a visit to the opera, a birthday celebration, a romantic date, or similar. But the fragrance is certainly not for everyday wear.

A little note on the tobacco note: It is not an ashy, smoky cigarette tobacco. It is more like the dried, unlit tobacco leaf. This has been flavored, almost like pipe tobacco in a tin, which one enjoys sniffing, even if one might not actually smoke the pipe in the end.

Finally, as a supplement, it must be mentioned that the mother of this fragrance direction was originally "Tobacco Vanille (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford," and respect must be paid to this creative novelty that advanced the niche significantly. Compared to this, Tabac Nomad is, on one hand, more tolerable as it is less sweet, and at the same time, more multifaceted and also more natural - thus, for me, in the overall view, simply of higher quality.
