Beyond Disappointing
Hugo Boss was having a pretty good run with Boss Bottled Absolu and Boss Bottled Elixir. At least for designer standards, those two were pretty decent. But with one of the latest additions to the world-renowned Bottled lineup, "Boss Bottled Beyond | Hugo Boss", I think we are back on track... in the bad sense.

Plenty of marketing went into this one. I remember I constantly got ads everywhere of Bradley Cooper, Maluma, and Vinícius Jr. hyping this one up for like a month or more. If only the same amount of budget went into the making of the fragrance itself by actually putting the accent on something creative and innovative instead of hiring 4 different perfumers to make such a basic composition, we might've gotten something actually worth the celebrities' time.

But no, of course not. Instead, let's just make a fragrance that has been made hundreds of times before and that people have gotten sick to death by now. For one, "Boss Bottled Beyond | Hugo Boss" shoots off quite synthetic, slowly letting a little bit of sweetness creep in with a clean, shower gel vibe tagging along. Some warm spice joins the rendezvous too, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the spice and scent of ginger. It's just the most basic designer spice that you quite literally get in every other designer. And it's not even that strong of a spiciness; the clean, fresh shower gel vibe feels much more prominent.

Without much waiting needed, a faint touch of nondescript leather with the mildest fruity-sweet accents warms things up, done in a very hesitant way, because it genuinely feels like the perfumers here were scared of using leather as a note. And don't even get me started on saffron; apart from MAYBE contributing to the tame leathery profile, I wouldn't say that this has any saffron at first impression. It does have some woody aspects, done in classic designer fashion, with a dry, mildly piney cedar that does nothing but bore me further. It really is beyond disappointing, considering the aforementioned Bottled releases and considering the marketing that went into this, all for nothing.

It was a little tough for me to dissect the performance of "Boss Bottled Beyond | Hugo Boss" on my skin, as the fragrance went very quiet very fast. Longevity ranged somewhere from 5-6 hours, while projection was largely gone 2 hours in, with those first two hours also not having any more pushing power than 1.5 feet.

Versatility. I hate this one because it's the only place where mediocre scents like this one manage to earn a couple of points. In the end, that's what they are made for. Office, school, sports, parties, brunch... and beyond that. "Boss Bottled Beyond | Hugo Boss" is about as easy to wear as it is to crack your knuckles, but that's not to say that it is a good scent in the end. Quite the contrary, the more versatile and easy-to-wear a fragrance is, the more likely it is a bland and boring composition. There are exceptions, but 9 times out of 10, it ends up being something like "Boss Bottled Beyond | Hugo Boss".

There's not much else left to say apart from "this is not worth it". There's literally hundreds of other designers who adopted this scent structure along the years, and "Boss Bottled Beyond | Hugo Boss" brings nothing new to the table for it. That leather or ginger might seem unique at first glance, but once you smell it and you actually know what a true leather or a true ginger note in perfumery smells like, this will feel like nothing but space-filler on the shelves. It's beyond unfortunate and beyond disappointing. If they meant to say "beyond innovative" or slogans alike, then Hugo Boss should start a comedy program.

The Archetype of Masculine Fragrance
I was expecting a leathery fragrance, but that’s not the case at all.

Instead, it leans on cedar and citrus, fresh and above all very classic, the kind of men’s scent you’ve undoubtedly encountered before.

Still, it remains a pleasant composition (a true archetype of the genre, with little chance of ever offending), though it’s clear that if originality is what you’re after, this is not the one to place your bets on...

Fizzy cola shower gel. Lovely!
I read so much negativity online about this fragrance, the constant lambasting and disdain for “being boring, generic and rubbish”.

With caution, i tried it. And to my surprise i really love it! Many people hate it and call it generic but its rather unique.

It smells like cola shower gel. Really feels like a modernised/metallic Versace Blue Jeans. I loved VBJ and i love this.

It lasts long enough (8ish hours), smells lovely but doesn’t project too much. All in all not bad, and it can be found on the cheap.

Fresh, pleasant, too expensive
This is a relatively simple, but pleasant and wearable scent. It's a masculine scent, but not so masculine that I feel like I'm in drag when I'm wearing it. I got a free sample of it, which I'll happily use up, but I also won't be purchasing a bottle -- it's a bit too generic Man Scent to me for that price.

The first couple minutes are, alas, a bit of a synthetic blast. Once that wears off (and it does wear off quickly), it moves into a lightly spicy ginger. It's not the full intensity of e.g. ginger juice -- it doesn't have the bite I associate with the real plant -- but it's still ginger and it's nice.

It takes a bit for the leather to really come in. When it does, it's a light, pleasant, sort of generic leather. Again, it doesn't have the bite and earthiness I associate with the scent of real leather (especially the unfinished underside of e.g. a bridle strap or stirrup flap), but I also don't feel like I've rubbed sweaty old tack all over my pulse points, which is not a bad thing. If you're really into leather, this is probably not your fragrance. If you want a hit of leatheriness, this works, and the cedar leaf and saffron round it out nicely.

It's a non-offensive, pleasant, lightly masculine scent that would be appropriate for the office.

Boss bottled Beyond
This was a cologne that i did not intent on buying at all. I was in Neimann and left thinking I was not gonna get anything. then I went to hugo boss and smelled their new scent, and OMG that opening is amazing. I dont have too many scents with ginger but this opening is like 80% ginger and its just amazing, I dont really get any leather until after about 10 minutes. Its a nice, smooth, leather than a young guy could wear. I also agree with those who say they get apple in that opening. The opening is honestly super similar to coral fantasy as crazy as that may sound. Longevity is average on skin, and terrific on clothes lasting about 6 hrs on skin and 24+hrs on clothes. Highly reccommend giving this a smell in person, but if you love ginger scents like Ingenous ginger and Vibrato then this may be a safe blind buy for you.

Cheap synthetic-sweet opening, subtle spice NOT reminiscent of ginger.
Tame fruity aspects on a bland leathery, dry woody base. Beyond mid.

Feels like stepping in a time machine back to the early 2000s. Inoffensive fresh woody scent that's been done about a billion times before

Not bad , but ultra basic smell. Very weak too. I would rather buy spicebomb dark leather or carolina herrera bad boy elixir

Zara-quality ganymede ripoff with added violet leaf creaminess and a tiny fruity-spicy aspect reminiscent of Boss Bottled DNA.

Acidic, designer DHM top, followed by a Sel d’Issey scent that is drier, spicier, more masculine. Not too bad.
