My first review!
So this one is a peculiar-behaving scent that I fell in love with a few months back. After I got it home and sprayed it, I went out looking for another one as a backup. As the bottle has macerated (aired) over the past few months the aquatic notes have taken on some strange turns. So I will review this bottle at it's current age.
On paper strip, this smells a lot different than in the air OR on my skin. It's breezy, pleasant, oceanic, and citrusy-sweet.
On my skin and in the air, there's a distinct armpit note I get that I absolutely hate. It's the smell of being an active teenager and using Speed Stick Ocean Surf (the glassy kind). It absolutely smells like the combination of a shirt worn for half a day and an armpit dripping with speed stick gel sweat. I can't explain it. But after about 30 minutes, it tapers off to that smell from the paper strip, which is greatly appreciated.
(So, dear me, if you can stick it out for the first 20-30 minutes, you'll have a pretty decent scent you can wear for the next 4 hours.)
The main notes I get ambiently upon the spray are light "Irish Spring" soap, sea salt, bergamot, grapefruit, lychee, and slight herbs. On my skin it's the scent I spoke of plus orange Gojo and slight musty towel. After the complete drydown, I get massive "Irish Spring" soap, pleasant oakmoss, patchouli, hints of sand/salt, very light fragrant wood, a very light animalic note, strawberry crate, and hard orange candy.
This fragrance has an intimate to below-moderate sillage and lasts on my skin at that level for around 3 hours where it drops off to very intimate on hour 4, and then disappears.
It's not attempting to clone anything in particular, but shares a lot of similarities with the whole gamut of blue/aquatic/shower gel fragrances. The atomizer on it is great, does not feel cheap, feels like pressing down cold metal.
If you can find this at a rack store and are wanting to try/are in need of a breezy-aquatic-sand-slicedfruit smell, go for it. You might not even have the skin issue I did since everyone's skin scent is different.
