Introduction:
(Dryness, the great drought...)
Still quite new here on Parfumo, so it must have been almost 2 years ago when I read about
L'Instant Magic and, inspired by the praises, visited a perfumery to test it.
Ah yes, there stood the bottle, I sprayed it - and thought only: oh my goodness.. what is this?!
In my nose, it smelled mainly musty and dusty, my nose seemed to dry out - nothing attractive, what a pity - from then on I avoided powdery scents, whether almond or not.
Of course, now and then I got to sniff something powdery, but I found it rather unconvincing.
Then I recently made another attempt with Lipstick on by Replica. Not that the scent was bad, it’s just that my personal associations with it went no further than an (older, perhaps even my mother’s) makeup bag. That’s just not how I want to smell....
Then I happened to read here about a mix-up between L'Instant and Magic!!
Bingo, that must have happened to me too, I thought! I’m such a nut!
Recently, a dear Parfuma sent me a sample of Magic and at the same time, I learned there were rumors/information that it would be discontinued. Great, just when I might have discovered THE powdery almond scent, and now it’s gone...!
I tested Magic and yesss, much better, way better in my nose than the bare L'Instant without Magic, however, it has something perfumey-elegant-sweet-gentle, perhaps it’s a makeup note that doesn’t quite suit me. That’s my feeling. But I wanted to give it another try, and so I received a decant from the lovely Xenia:
**FLEUR DE LUNE**
To all women, younger or older, feminine-sporty-nature-loving-casual-alternative or even more elegant...make-up or not, hair color doesn’t matter. You, who may have avoided powdery scents so far or couldn’t relate to them:
if you haven’t tested this one yet, I’m giving a sincere recommendation to try it, so! Because this scent is not pff...dry - no!! It is creamy-powdery-powdery-creamy. :)
It smells like an excellent moisturizing cream, somewhat reminiscent of Nivea - but it definitely goes far beyond that. I spent the evening and the last night with it (...) and even now in the morning, my arms smell lightly of almond, with a minimal non-intrusive floral hint. So I think this scent should appeal not only to clean scent lovers but also to all cream enthusiasts :) and of course to anyone who wants to smell subtly perfumed or perhaps has to for work (but doesn’t want to smell as natural as an essential oil).
Really so subtly floral, I wouldn’t have thought after 1881 that Freesia could do this too! *cough* In contrast to many other clean scents, I don’t have to sniff only close to my arm, the sillage is quite present, not at all lacking! Now that I’m surely at the base, I still can’t catch anything woody, everything is too finely woven and balanced, just as described by my previous commenter.
This is a real all-rounder, at least when the temperatures are below 25°-26°C and
on top of that, there’s a hoot, you can buy it for under a hundred. I hope it stays with us for a long time, because my wish list has quite a bit on it that requires time and patience...
Anyone who has L'Instant Magic or other powder/cream scents and is satisfied with them will surely not miss this one, but as a complement to an otherwise differently oriented collection, it is ideal.
So, now I’m going shopping, plums, such a rainy free day in the Rhineland is perfect for baking plum cake! ;)

I'm totally hooked now! Great description, and even though it's not really "my style," or maybe precisely because of that ;), it's going on my wishlist and I hope to try it soon. Thanks!

I really like it too... but I only have a sample. Since L'Instant Magic is still available, I don't need to worry about Fleur de Lune for now :) Trophy

You can't be serious! I've successfully convinced myself that I don't need to test it!
