Le Mâle Jean Paul Gaultier 1995 Eau de Toilette

Hard to believe this was concocted in 1995. Le Male, at its heart, is a very classic barbershop lavender heavy fragrance. But it has that sweet, powdery vanilla over top of it that makes it feel very modern and more accessible to people that aren’t into the more oakmossy green fougeres. It feels like a milestone or turning point fragrance, that began the transition of sweeter fragrances being more popular in the masculine fragrance space. I personally think we have gone way too far to the sweet side in 2025, but the OG Le Male provided the perfect balance. This is head and shoulders the best Le Male that exists to this day. My only complaint is that tacky bottle. That male torso is an eye sore on a fragrance shelf.
