Unbelievable...
... beautiful!

I am happy and sad at the same time, because I have found my new great love and my signature with Oat & Cornflower. It could be so beautiful if the fragrance wasn't a limited edition from 2018.

But now to the fragrance:
You can't detect cornflower or anything flowery here. The composition of hazelnut and oats is more discernible.
Although there is a slight green note in the fragrance, it is basically rather warm, soft, perhaps even a little lactonic and vanilla-like.

A feel-good fragrance for me. One that embraces me. One that makes me feel born. And one that reminds me of nature and the beauty of life.

And yes, if you break it down, you could say that it reminds me a little of a nut porridge. It is certainly a gourmand, albeit not a classic one. So you don't have to worry about smelling like porridge :)

Lockerlecker breakfast flakes
The underlying principle of Jo Malone's English Fields series is already quite unmistakably anchored in his name: English fields. So a green or at least botanical theme: one flower each and mostly - in four out of five cases: Wheat, barley, rye and here oats - a type of grain. This is a hint of summery scents - like a cheerful country trip through English hilly landscapes with a well-filled picnic basket.

Green Wheat & Meadowsweet, the first (and most beautiful) of this year's five limited edition fragrances I've commented on, still meets this expectation: a quieter summer fragrance full of wonderfully fresh June green - uncomplicated, effortless. Honey & Crocus, which I described a couple of days ago, is already shearing off - as a scent of the warm, buttered honey roll, which nevertheless still shows its vegetable part of the name - the crocus.

At Oat & Cornflower there is hardly anything to find of its floral component - the cornflower. But of his (processed) cereals the more so. Oat & Cornflower is the scent of breakfast cereals, more frosty or tasty than toppas in terms of sweetness. It is also reminiscent of oatmeal biscuits - the American version, the size of a beer lid and still soft inside. Or warm cake. Butter cookies. In his only middle strength quite summer-suited.

Conclusion: this biscuit note is a bit one-dimensional. For example, where Serge Lutens' Jeux de Peau, which many also call a biscuit scent, adds a noticeably organic, almost animal component that makes it interesting and beyond the grainy sweetness to be experienced, Oat & Cornflower focuses exclusively on cereals (which sometimes have more calories than chocolate). A feast for the senses for lovers of gourmands. But there is no trace of English fields.

Stable smell
My husband insists you'd never get rid of his " stable smell ".

He means this, of course, in the social sense - and he may be right.
My ma formulated it more pithy: You don't make a soup pot from a chamber pot.

I like to carry the stable smell around with me in two ways.
On the one hand, the above-mentioned one, that of the imprinting, on the other hand, the smell of my own horse stable, which always accompanied me.

This soothing scent, when the husband started the roaring oat crusher, was a delight to me.
The smell of oats wafts through the stables, rounded off by the hay note.
And the horses stretched their necks in anticipation of their meal.
And then afterwards her satisfied painting.

I also like to roam our oat fields, from which the blue blossoms of the cornflowers protruded.
The good soil exhaled earthy substances - and in the air lay the nutty hazel bushes.
A piece of home.

Oat & Cornflower is a natural, nature-orientated scent, which not only reminds you of the english fields, but also of the fields and meadows in the beautiful Sauerland.

Why wander into the distance - look, the good is so close.
