Rum-soaked amberwood
Not sure what my nose was smelling the first day I tested this at Nordstrom on strip, but XX Elixir turned out to be extremely bland on my skin. Even before I asked for the sample, I sprayed on strip again and didn't really get any of the nice leathery notes I was getting before.
It's essentially an amberwood fragrance dominated by rum and tonka bean, and if you've been around a department store fragrance section in the last 10 years or so, you've smelled a lot of 'fumes that smell very similar to this. The drydown does get a bit darker and woody after the very bland heart of the fragrance, so it's not a BAD amberwood, but it's just very boring.
