False hopes
Oh, a fragrance of empty promises! Ever since the Miami Shake was announced as the first "true" gourmand from the JHAG brand, I have been eagerly awaiting the strawberry sundae. Well, you could certainly have approached it with a healthy dose of skepticism and not believed the marketing. But it just sounded too tempting to resist.
The trend of the sparse fragrance pyramid has created false expectations here. In my opinion, the fragrance is superficially floral and musky. Where are the flowers in the fragrance pyramid? The strawberry is very synthetic at the beginning and remains a quiet companion in the drydown. Vanilla ice cream and waffle cone can be guessed as a phantom, with an extreme amount of imagination, towards the end. A light, unspecific sweetness comes through. Some coconut also joins in and has a sticky effect.
Overall, the fragrance is "quite nice". Not at all gourmand or fruity, but floral, musky and slightly sweet. But "quite nice" is not enough if you actually want to smell like strawberry ice cream. And the fragrance is advertised with notes that are only marginally recognizable in the meaningless (and unadvertised) sea of flowers. What a shame!
