My Drydown Fragrance
Hakama...

It is my finally found drydown dream fragrance. I have had a long-standing idea of whether there is a scent that leads a drydown solely as a composition. In the past, many woody fragrances have been tested, worn, and evaluated during their drydown. And it was always exactly that which appealed to me.

Now I have found all of this in Hakama. And I love it.

First, about The Nose Behind. The focus here is solely on the fragrance. The bottle is kept very simple and unobtrusive. The sprayer, as known from Roberto Ugolini's, is very good and delivers a decent "dose".

Now to Hakama.
It is spicy and resinous. Upon spraying, I immediately perceive the Szechuan pepper and nutmeg, and it doesn't change much for me as it develops. Its sillage is average and gives me great performance. 8 hours are the norm here. Before it comes to an end, I catch a whiff of the frankincense. Hakama is warm and spicy, but for me, it is an elegant representative of its kind.

A really great one from The Nose Behind series.

The Japanese in Santa Claus Costume
This is my first review and I saved it for the "The Nose Behind" line. For me, the line itself is something very special and I was really looking forward to my sample set.

About the scent, I must say: Incredibly good! The scent character is a mix of simple and pompous. I perceive the Szechuan pepper the strongest both in the opening and in the dry down. Not sharp or piercing at all, but really very well balanced with the other fragrance notes and very pleasant in the nose.
I must say, it doesn’t smell entirely Japanese. It has more of a festive quality and reminds me more of a "Bistecca al Peppe verde," which you would order at a Christmas party in a restaurant that is all festively decorated, and where you feel that typical pre-Christmas "just before the holiday vibe."

I find the projection and sillage to be very negative. After just two hours, the scent is almost completely gone from the clothing and only very moderately perceptible on the skin. Since we are dealing with an extrait here, I find that a bit disappointing. For me, H/S is an important factor in the price/performance ratio.

Someone who is not looking for a beast mode scent and places great value on noticeable quality will be well served with this fragrance. In my opinion, it is particularly suitable for the office - I see this scent on someone who participates in meetings in casual business attire, with dress pants, a turtleneck sweater, and sneakers.

A Little Christmas Feeling at 'The Nose Behind'
After already wearing and reviewing 8 TNB fragrances, today I finally encountered a scent that I really liked!

Hakama (I still don't understand the naming) starts with a strong, sweet, warming spice opening of nutmeg with just a hint of "pepper tingle." The frankincense brings a wonderful sweetness that, combined with labdanum, creates a balsamic effect.
You get slight vibes of an essential oil that comes across as spicy-sweet. It definitely ignites a pre-Christmas feeling in me -- great opening!

After 1.5 hours, the fragrance becomes sweet-spicy. The tingling from the pepper (which, by the way, wasn't as present for me as the fragrance pyramid led me to believe) gives way to the clove note and the resinous frankincense.
What’s really great is: The fragrance has a wonderful warming aura on my skin. It could also be a very good "cuddle scent."

After 2.5 - 3.5 hours, the sweetness gradually fades and it becomes spicy with a slight sweet note.

After 4.5 - 5 hours, the bigger spectacle is unfortunately already over - the longevity noticeably ("olfactorily" :D) decreases.

After 6 hours, it is only close to the skin, leaving behind a kind of sweetened "French Brandy" with clove and nutmeg. Really nice! :-)

-- Conclusion:
Unisex. Cold season. Quite suitable for daily wear or for the evening/leisure.
My nose couldn't identify strong Sichuan pepper or especially a bergamot. Nevertheless, a very rounded fragrance with a great DNA!

Having now sniffed through almost all of Herbert's "The Nose Behind," this one is my favorite alongside "Miami South Beach | The Nose Behind." Two really great fragrances that I would consider worth spending the €175 retail price on.

A Mild Winter Scent
Wow… that surprised me a bit.
When I read the top note of Sichuan pepper, I thought the scent would really just smell like pepper. However, this is not the case at all - quite the opposite. At first, the scent actually only smells like clove and nutmeg. (I don't directly pick out the two notes but rather identify it as a lovely cinnamon note) Pepper doesn't really come through, which I think is great since I'm not a big fan of pepper scents.
As it develops, the scent becomes less spicy and evolves into a beautiful floral note that makes it very wearable. Really aromatic and totally soft. Really great!

Sillage is totally fine, but not exceptionally high. However, that's not a bad thing, as the scent could be too strong for some. All in all, it's totally okay. And as Herbert Stricker, the CEO of the nose behind always says: "Every scent has a very specific concentration."

All in all, a very successful release. For the price, truly unique, but still very wearable.

A great, spicy scent that beautifully showcases clove
Hakama is a fragrance that I didn't really like at first.
Now, I actually enjoy it quite a bit. Spicy, woody, and pleasantly smoky. You don't smell it on every corner, and it's just something unique.

The scent starts off peppery, with a slight freshness, and it has a lovely clove spice. Clove is always a tricky note. Many people can't handle it at all. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of clove either.
However, it has improved, and there are here and there fragrances where this note is really pleasant and well-crafted.
Hakama is one of those for me.
I generally like this mix of bergamot, pepper, and clove.
Although the nutmeg note is also relatively present.

I find that the fragrance doesn't really have a proper development and lingers for a long time with the impressions mentioned above.
Over time, only a pleasant veil of incense and a slightly enjoyable resinous sweetness are added.

The scent lasts about seven hours on my skin and projects quite well.
It is definitely unisex, but I tend to see it more on men.

A light peppery spice, a splash of bergamot freshness, some dry wood, and mild incense. Not bad, but a bit indecisive.

Spicy-peppery; subtly citrusy. But it just doesn't reach my heart. As much as I want it to. Smells like Axe. No matter which one...
