Don't Let the Cheap Price Fool You
I'm not a fan of saffron except in food, and the same holds true for sage and nutmeg. But with the exception of saffron, this scent is so well blended I'm not picking up those notes except in an earthy sense. What I am getting is a lightly spiced, slightly sweet, silky soft iris perfume. Though the saffron starts out a little medicinal, it soon mellows out and is really the perfect foil for the soft buttery orris. All the other notes work seamlessly together creating a very smooth, soft and powdery iris scent.
I've also found that this scent is greatly affected by the weather. In cold weather, the saffron is stronger, and the orange, sandalwood, and leather become the main players. It wears very masculine then. The iris is still there, but it is no longer in the forefront and the scent is not as powdery. But in warmer weather, the Orris comes to the fore and the fragrance becomes a soft powdery iris fragrance that is just beautiful and smells much more expensive than the cheap price I paid. I consider this one of the best Iris perfumes on the market, and every bit as good as iris perfumes costing 10 times as much. This really is a hidden gem.
