Woodsy vanilla with a hint of green
Kyse fragrances have been difficult to me. I love gourmands, but many of theirs gave me homemade, candle-like vibes, which I don't like.
Vanille de Cèdre is more of a woodsy vanilla than a gourmand (as one would expect from the name) and I like it better than most other perfumes by the brand. It really does what it says on the tin. A warm, sweet and slightly milky vanilla unites with a nice, realistic cedar note. You know how cedar notes often have a vague fuzzy-woody scent in designer fragrances? That's not what happens here. This smells like those little pieces of cedar wood you put into your drawers to repell moths. I always liked that scent and I prefer it over more synthetic cedar notes.
Later in the drydown the cedar vanishes away and the vanilla turns more powdery. There is a hint of greenery in the base, which seems to be the oakmoss. At this stage it reminds me a tiny little bit of Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensée.
Simple and nice!
