Dupe of a Dupe
The Emperor's New Clothes or how should one describe it when a fragrance is taken off the shelf and shortly after a new fragrance appears in its place? Different name, different design, and the content only slightly altered. In this case, the game was played with "Aqua Bella | La Rive." It was considered a good dupe of "Acqua di Gioia (Eau de Parfum) | Giorgio Armani." Now the new fragrance from La Rive is available and is being marketed as a completely new scent.
The opening is lightly citrusy fresh and floral, but the joy is quickly over. From a distance, Acqua di Gioia Eau de Parfum waves faintly. A new substance that has been replacing the hairspray note in La Rive fragrances for about a year now spreads out. Mustiness instead of freshness and flowers. Watery, with no development, it continues. A bit of vanilla (which seems to be a must nowadays) and musk do not improve the fragrance either. The predecessor was indeed a better scent. After a short half hour, the fragrance has also become thin. I had expected more from this scent and thankfully only tested it.
