Blacamán the Good, Vendor of Miracles
Blacamán the Good relates how he came to know and work for Blacamán the Bad, an itinerant confidence man who, dressed in extravagant and preposterous garb, would sell all manner of things to the unsuspecting villagers in the north Colombian province of La Guajira.
Hypnose Cologne, or Hypnosis in English, is kind of like Blacamán the Good, Vendor of Miracles. It is the second scent I own from Lancome house, and the other one is Miracle Homme L'Aquatonic. Both are crisp, and allegedly flankers of Hypnose and Miracle pour Homme, respectively, yet they have a different smell and vibe to one another. The appearance of Hypnose struck me because it was eccentric. The bottle is uniquely twisted, and so with the cover, the juice is mint green.
The scent starts with an outburst of fresh, zesty aroma, mainly due to the presence of citrus bergamot, lemon, and orange fruits altogether. I appreciated the whole blend. When you sniff it first, it might remind you of other husky citrusy scents around the world.
But as it lightens up, the presence of aromatic lavender and pungent coriander gave the whole fragrance a sharpened intensity that warms the citrusy glow. A little kiss of petitgrain makes the heart so soothing, uplifting, and shining at the same time. It is what makes the scent mysterious or hypnotic because you would never anticipate the warmth of lavender by looking at the lightness of the juice.
As the scent finishes with the woody accord of sandalwood and cedar, yet lavender still lingering in the background, it further interprets the fragrance to have beaming masculinity that is so prominent and sexy. The whole redolence is unique, as best manifested in its appearance. Unfortunately, by that time, it hardly projects at all. But it is an EDC, so it has to be expected, I guess.
Conclusively, this is a lovely late spring and full summer fragrance for day and evening, but you need to reapply during the day. The longevity is not any worse, yet it is below the average, the projection is weak, and the sillage is close to your skin. It can be worn safely at work, and the weak performance won't bother your co-workers. I wish it could fly higher, the overall scent is excellent in my opinion, but performance let you down a bit.
