Le Galion's Saturday Night Fever
Megara, what a fragrance… just today while packing moving boxes, I found a 15ml extrait in the closet, almost empty, but the little that’s left delights my nose to the highest degree!
This is how the worldly woman smelled in the 70s, when she dressed up, with pyramid perm, in a white wrap dress à la Fürstenberg, cork wedge sandals, and an XXL Optyl sunglasses from Dior, heading out into the warm summer evenings to dance to "More than a Woman" by the Bee Gees:-)
Slightly sultry, seductive yet still understatedly elegant. This fragrance truly had great class!
My curiosity drove me straight to the bookshelf; somewhere in the old H&R fragrance atlas from 1984, there must be a bit more about this forgotten great coup from Le Galion…
Searched - found, here is the pyramid written there:
Top notes: Aldehyde complex, bergamot, hyacinth, peach, raspberry
Heart notes: Lily of the valley, rose, gardenia, jasmine, iris, honey, orchid
Base notes: Cedarwood, musk, sandalwood, oakmoss, amber
At the time, the fragrance was not a big seller, and it was rather rare to find in Germany; it can still occasionally be found online at quite moderate prices.
Anyone who likes fragrances in the style of Weil's "Chunga", Patou's "1000", Givenchy's "Le de Givenchy", or Morabito's "Or Noir" should definitely stretch out their feelers for Megara, it's worth it!
I would very much wish for Megara to also experience a relaunch in the Le Galion portfolio, but please in unchanged form, without ifs and buts.
