Everything was better in the past...
…not so with Le Galion's Eau Noble!
After finally experiencing the test premiere of the reissued Le Galion creation today, I must say, Wow, what a stunning masterpiece and an absolute enrichment of the citrus-fresh fragrance genre.
I had to wait a week for the test, as I gifted the fragrance to my better half for their birthday today, and it has thus found its way into our collection. The wait was definitely worth it, and Eau Noble 2014 has the potential to become one of my favorite scents…
The new version is significantly softer and more powdery than the original from 1972. That scent was more of a herbal-bitter citrus representative in the style of Loewe or YSL Pour Homme.
The scent development is very classic; fresh citrus and green galbanum are quite fleeting, while lavender, sage, and the rose geranium, which I usually shun, remain rather discreet. The base is wonderfully warm-woody and gives the fragrance a certain complexity.
Overall, a 90% candidate and the hope that Le Galion secures a place among the great Parisian perfumers once again and holds onto it…. My wish would be a relaunch of the Eau de Vetyver from the 1960s...
