Crême Brullé
This is the softest scent from Les Néreides. Very nice and for every day use. Soft vanilla notes with a bit of spice. The rose comes forward shyly at the beginning but hands over the sceptre to the creamy notes without complaint.

It doesn’t last as long as the other powerscents from Les Néreides and is very well suited for all vanilla lovers who don’t want to smell too much of it.

White Chocolate Vanilla Bean Baby Powder Twee-ness
From November 21, 2016:

I love visiting second-hand shops. Usually, people have no clue what they’re tossing out. Perfumes are often a rare sight but when they are found, what a treat! I found Douceur de Vanille still boxed and sealed for a pittance so I felt no remorse making the blind purchase, particularly given its status as hard-to-find.

My first impression was less than enthused. Vanille is in the title so where was the vanilla? It was liquid baby powder! This revelation wasn’t entirely a letdown but the expectation for vanilla was high. For heaven’s sakes, it’s in the name! But for some reason I was compelled to try, try again. My persistence paid dividends—this is the most comfy, cozy, warm and toasty vanilla I own. I was put off by the opening but in time it grew on me. I love that powdery blanket that envelops me at first spray and I love the soft vanilla cloud that hovers about me for the rest of the day (and into the night). I hope the rarity of this fluffy confection is simply a rumor because all vanilla lovers must try this at least once in their lives.

From July 28, 2023:

...And now? How do I feel about Douceur de Vanille? I do not feel much of anything anymore. It was a lovely, powdery vanilla but a little too twee for my tastes. I've since found other vanillas that make my toes curl and eyes roll, like Vanille Exquise, "Les Notes Gourmandes - Dragée | Réminiscence", and Angélique Noire, to name a few. I still believe all vanilla aficionados should try this blissful concoction at least a few times before dismissing it. It is one of the finest powdery fragrances I have had the pleasure to encounter. However, I also learned powdery scents are not a favorable genre of mine, particularly when it comes to vanilla. That said, powder lovers, this is an absolute must-try/must-buy.

Comfort pur sang
This review is for the old formulation of Douceur de Vanille for Les Néréides by Honoré Payan, with the cherub label.

When clearing out nearly all my scents earlier this year, I had a stand down with all my vanillas, deciding which to keep, which to say goodbye to. It was Douceur de Vanille who stood as the victor. It is a cloud of powdery, comforting and divine sugared vanilla, one that will make you smush your nose to your arm, wrist or scarf for the entire day. For me personally, a dream fragrance.

The Les Néréides edition is long discontinued, but if you still wish to try this fragrance, while I can't personally confirm, I do believe the original formula as made by Honoré Payan still lives on and can be sampled from their website.

of unfulfilled promises
The summer of 2012 tastes like autumn.
At least so far.
It is cool, it is damp to worryingly wet, its sky shows various shades of gray, and only now and then that blue we expect at this time of year.
Were it not for all the vibrant green around me, I would assume I had flipped the calendar wrong.

Temperatures like these awaken in me a strong need for warmth that is perceivable with all senses, for sweetness and softness, and a bit of punch - for scents that are usually worn in the dark season.
Such a scent seemed to be "Douceur de Vanille," perhaps not exactly a blockbuster, but certainly a gourmand candidate.
"Douceur" allows for various translations: from tenderness and sweetness to gentleness and softness, leading to mildness and suppleness - all in all synonyms for a highly cozy experience that also promises culinary delights.

A promise that is not kept.
Not for me, not on my skin.
"Douceur de Vanille" has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with a gourmand on me.
"Douceur de Vanille" gives me a completely different and, compared to my initial expectations, a much more beautiful scent experience: gentle, clean, bright shining powdery musk, only in the very first moment overlaid by a slightly fruity sweetness that reminds one of rose candy with almond shards.
This is how I know the opening of "Les Néréides" fragrances, and usually, a rather impressive development follows - but "Douceur de Vanille" is different.
Quickly, the fanfare retreats and makes way for the true essence of this fragrance, which tenderly caresses and conveys an incredible sense of well-being.
"Douceur de Vanille" stays close to me, does not create a barrier around me, but is still perceivable to those who come near.
The scent has a soothing and harmonizing effect - not a perfume for going out and standing out, certainly nothing for the big stage, but perfect for moments when you want to be very close to yourself, alone or together.
And it certainly makes the autumn-summer much easier to endure.

freshly washed and ironed---Mrs. Lolita's creation??
this scent is not sweet.
this scent is also not a delicious gourmet fragrance, although a blend of cocoa, almonds, star anise, and vanilla guarantees this 99.9%.

I would NOT like to eat this scent, because..... for me, Douceur de Vanille is a Fresh Laundry Scent!

We have twelve 10-year-old lavender bushes in our garden, which reach 160cm in height during bloom. When I have washed our beautiful old white linen bed sheets and then dried them over the lavender bushes on a hot summer day, it smells in our bedroom exactly like Douceur de Vanille:
clean, warm, dry, old-fashioned, white. For me, it’s beautiful.

Herbal tea start + overflowing synth. = Vanillin + temporary Callison candy + burnt cocoa + metallic-modern. Could be by Pierre Guillaume.

Dreaming on my powder cloud, bare skin kissed with dusted roses and a hint of almond chocolate. A vanilla breeze carries me skyward.

Powdery, opulent vanilla on white rose petals. Overall very feminine and moderately sweet. Quite pretty and quite retro.

A very delicate fresh vanilla scent adorned with bright flowers. For me, it's too weak overall, it flies under my nose radar, I can hardly smell it.

Starts off very reminiscent of Nivea cream, becoming more intense & creamier. White rose clearly dominates here, but unfortunately no gourmand!

A little peace, a little joy... a little vanilla, and "ugh" a little rose... cocoa?? Um, no. Pleasant, creamy - nice!

It could be so dreamy! Powdery-sweet almond accord, very graceful, with just the right amount of creaminess - but no longevity at all.
