Aqua or Flower? - Both Works
After often "bothering" my colleague during lunch breaks by testing new perfumes, I wanted to spare her today and wore a summery scent on each wrist. Fitting for a beautiful autumn day and so light that she might not even notice this time. But today, she opened the window even faster than usual, claiming that these "flowers are far too overpowering and feminine." I didn't expect that, but with Agua de Loewe Mediterraneo, it seems that it is not necessarily a subtle aquatic scent.
Many perfumes and companies adorn themselves with the title Mediterranean. Sometimes it fits (Carthusia), sometimes it feels overly synthetic and forced. Here, it’s a bit of both. Somewhat synthetic, but still very pleasant. However, for me, it leans more towards fruity (orange) and reminiscent of grandma's flowerbed than Mediterranean vibes.
It starts off extremely orangey. About like Happy for Men by Clinique. Just much nicer and juicier. Here, it is still quite unisex with its interplay of orange and orange blossom. The orange is beautifully represented as a whole. But it quickly becomes clear that this is a feminine perfume. Lily of the valley and jasmine ignite a floral fireworks display. Although it’s a bit too sweet for my taste, it’s still above average. The powdery, airy vanilla finish is unremarkable but keeps the scent afloat for a good 70%. Nothing more, really.
Sillage: surprisingly potent
Longevity: 7-8 hours
Bottle: satisfactory
Overall conclusion: A nice, by no means mediocre little water that could have easily hinted in its name that it’s an orange juice by the flowerbed. Still, a nice surprise.
