Creole LOVE POTION
Rich, incense-y, and very, very mysterious.
An androgynous distinctive and distinguished scent.
A very magical potion that can cast
a love spell.. perhaps ..
Much the way the Creoles liked to do in the French Quarter of New Orleans.....
reminds me of Bourbon French Parfums VOODOO LOVE...
a deep, earthy fragrance.
A re-creation of the special potion Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau gave to her favored clients so they could gain the object of their affections.

Rum and exotic spices mingle with dark, smoky woods and leather...
you can almost hear the drums beating off in the distance...in Congo Square in the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana,
just north of the French Quarter.

Voodoo warning
Is calling
Down in Limbo
Moonlight lush life
Bears strange fruit

Boozy, spicy, warm and a little sweet
Absolutely stunning right from the start! The rum, bitter orange and black cumin let you know immediately you're in for a treat. It's boozy, spicy, warm and a little sweet but just enough so... I'm often cautious about cumin in fragrances, as it can sometimes feel stinky to my nose, but no such thing here. It's just right. Saffron and, I think, something peppery soon joins in and at that point there was no going back: I was hooked.

The rum then subsides and the saffron shines; the middles notes remain spicy, with the addition of a gorgeous light smokiness. There is also something fruity, rich and liquorous but always balanced.

With time, gorgeous, warm amber develops, joined by sandalwood and, at least on my skin, a very discrete leather note.

Beautiful, comforting, warm, spicy but also mellow and velvety, Idole is perfect for cold weather. It's also unisex without a doubt. Sillage and longevity are good. Highly recommended.

P.S. This review is for the EDT.

High Striker
because the scale shoots into the height and immediately falls down again.

The head note is really brilliant. Caraway and rum prickle in the nose.
Much more promises the pyramid.
Yes, leather and wood (my darlings) appear, removed for miles and miles, though.

I feel like everyone in the German forum.

However, I feel how Ergoproxy. It may be simpler as well. There are also other smells which are taken advantage of more than once on the day.
And the smell is therefore nice warm and tasty.

Supplement on 1-10-2012
I increase my assessment and the durability. I still can smell the warm leather and wood tone in the next morning.

Warm-Cold Apprentice Piece - In Search of the Holy Grail
If I remember correctly, "Kral" was or is a standard crossword puzzle word. In any case, I believe I first heard the term in this context as a child. A Kral is originally a fortified small settlement in certain sub-Saharan areas - the description back then was undoubtedly different, dismissive....

I come to Africa for the obvious reason that Lubin's marketing department has really hit the ka…drum in this regard. It's all ten years old now, but it hasn't become any more reasonable since then. The kitschy mask bottle is just one aspect of the cornucopia of wild, almost globally cobbled-together ideas. Textually and visually, they make an effort (a selection; additions researched to the best of my knowledge with reasonable effort):
1. The Indian Ocean
2. Makassar, the capital of the Indonesian province of South Sulawesi/Celebes, referencing the time of former Dutch India (now essentially Indonesia)
3. An unnamed Nubian goddess, namely the aforementioned "idol" made of wood (Nubia: now part of Egypt/Sudan)
4. Okoumé, a wood from Gabon and neighboring countries on the west coast of Africa; a mention of Voodoo apparently cannot be missed - regardless of the fact that it belongs a weak 2,000 or 9,000 kilometers further west.
5. Madagascar in the morning, over a photo of the…African savanna?!?!?
6. "Liqueur de bois," it must be some kind of Pimento liqueur. Origin: Antilles
7. Sugarcane, whose actual home apparently is East Asia
And about the bottle: Some nomadic(!) peoples are facing the storm while traveling between East Africa or Zanzibar to the Sunda Islands or to Makassar, transporting the wooden figure deity across. Sea nomads are familiar to me, however, here they mean people who dare to cross the Indian Ocean in a felucca - whose sail is supposed to remind one of the Bembel. Such an undertaking certainly requires divine assistance. As if that had ever been an inspiring thought....

I think a little wordplay with "Kral" was allowed as a headline for this potpourri. And it gets worse: People, leave the Kral in the village! Mer losse d'r Kral en Sub-Sahara-Afrika. Lubin clearly went well beyond the mark. The stuff isn't bad; it's just that the erratic marketing nonsense has irretrievably outpaced what is offered.

Back to reality: After applying it, we are first offered rum. Initially, it doesn't seem as astringent as a novice would feel during primary contacts with it. But as soon as the caraway comes in, and it comes quickly, the rum gets this slightly metallic note like the almost-nauseating taste in the mouth when one is inexperienced with rum and has to take a proper sip. Perhaps it's about a cabin boy shanghaied in Dutch India, who is completely filled up for the amusement of the crew on board.

The caraway already brings a hint of that smoky note, which gains significance over time. It also carries nutmeg or clove. Bathed in rum. It gradually weakens afterward but remains perceptible for hours. Orange is O.K., although less bitter and less peel than stated.

After three hours, Idole smells downright scorched. I like that. The announcement for this is "smoked ebony." Ebony. Aha. Must be a mistake, it unmistakably is East Indian rosewood.... Of course, that's nonsense; I have no idea about the specific olfactory characteristics of smoked ebony. How crazy one becomes here is shown by the fact that I almost didn't laugh at "smoked ebony." But only almost. I think it smells more like scratchy myrrh. Very restrained.

By noon, I have not only the stated sandalwood impression but also a musk impression. A few spice molecules bounce around alongside. By early afternoon, the scent has practically disappeared like the felucca (hopefully) on the horizon. Only a subtle wooden note remains on the skin. Leather and sandalwood are acceptable claims. Cedar maybe still. And vetiver. Still: There was definitely more going on in old Dutch India than on my wrist.

Short pleasure. And overall, the colleague is very quiet, except at the beginning. Does he need more warmth? Maybe he is cold-blooded, the good one?

Conclusion: I find all of this somewhat decent, yet not exhilarating. More important will be my memory that during a long-ago store test, I liked the ladies' version of Idole much better than the one at hand. So let’s allow the felucca to sail away without us, as a thorough test of the EdP seems more promising. Presumably, the EdT was for practice, so to speak, the apprentice piece.

Many thanks to Angelliese!

Rum, leather, spices... and all of it without heaviness. Excellent work by Olivia Giacobetti, unfortunately it's no longer produced. Top scent!

Well, I might just become a casual alcoholic. It has something incredibly captivating, slightly dark with a woody-sweet charm.

Molasses, rum, and honey, almost fruity; cool spice upfront, warm, increasingly woody at the back, a bit smoky. Great, but also quite rich.

Idole de Lubin ???
You are right on two accounts CyberToy1. First, Idole and Idole de Lubin are very simular. For me, the EdT was more interesting. Second, the EdT did have better longevity. Finally, we agree on something....
