Beach break
Let me tell you a story,

of a moment of calm. The sun is in the midday sky and a cool, brisk wind is blowing by. Sitting in the dunes, I look out to sea, surrounded by dune roses.

This perfume was the first in my world to introduce me to salts and authentic aquatic notes. It was a real revelation when a friend presented it to me. He didn't know what to expect before he bought it either and it has since become one of our favorites. Salty-aquatic freshness combined with woody, partly sweet notes makes it suitable for many sunny days.
It is also very attractive and special on the outside. The Driftwood comes in large wooden packaging, which adds to the name.

It's a shame that this special piece has been discontinued and that nothing else from the brand has been released so far, because I would be very curious to see what else awaits us.
If you are looking for an alternative to this fragrance, you could try the John Varvatos XX Artisan Teal, which adds floral components.

Daytime fragrance with a feel-good factor
A long time ago I was able to get hold of a copy of this rare representative at a good price. At TK-MAXX, could have been a good 5 years ago. As the temperatures are now "suitable" for wearing it, I have now taken it out. And I have to admit that this "driftwood" has so far remained without comment on my part. That is now changing! Also to share my fragrance impressions with other "perfume sniffers".
It is a fragrance that olfactorily captures a whole, moderately warm, bright to cloudy early summer day. The "morning" begins quite cool and slightly damp, but gives hope for rising temperatures. The breeze seems to sweep directly over a nearby body of water and spread the coolness in the surrounding area.
In the "morning", the sun comes out strongly and warms the air over the lake and forest. A very pleasant warmth that invites you to soak up the sun. It stays that way until the early afternoon, before some cumulus clouds gather and bring a few drops of rain. Enough to make everything smell woody and spicy. Moist and infused with floral aromas. Carnations and musk mallow sharing a casually tended garden corner with a little lavender.
As evening approaches, the lowering sun once again dominates the sky, surrounded by loose veils of mist. The light breeze blows from the lake again.
The "evening" comes late before it turns into a cool night. But not before showing the full color spectrum of a sunset. The slightly hot red of saffron, the soft purple of fully bloomed bright iris, the cool turquoise-blue colors of the nearby water and in the east the woody, emerging darkness of the approaching night.
It is a beautiful, not too present fragrance to feel good in and indeed lasts a whole day, leaving behind traces of the entire aromatic palette close to the skin. Gladly smelled and well-meaning "approved" :-))

I drift towards the sun
This fragrance was one of the first I bought when I discovered my passion for the world of fragrances. It was a blind buy to boot.

The presentation of the name Driftwood in combination with this wonderfully coordinated outer packaging made from a piece of real wood (I assume it's driftwood?), which can be separated in the middle and is held together with magnets, immediately appealed to me. (This packaging is only available for the 125ml bottle.)
It's really something, even the lid is made of wood.
The bottle itself is chic, simple and feels high-quality. The spray head is also perfectly fine.

The fragrance starts with a mixture of salt and ginger. I can also smell something similar to lemon peel. This combination immediately puts you in a good mood, and if the weather outside is also suitable, you simply feel great with the fragrance. However, it is much sweeter than I would have expected based on the notes listed here, but that doesn't really bother me. As it progresses, the freshness diminishes a little and it develops in a woody direction with a slight sweetness in its luggage.
There are moments when I would somehow describe it as a gourmand fragrance.
Yes, the ambroxan is also present here, and yes, someone who likes to smell it often and finds it annoying will certainly not be happy with this fragrance. However, I find that the ambroxan note is quite restrained in this fragrance.

The only drawback of this fragrance is the longevity and the sillage, but if you put this in relation to the price and other aquatic fragrances in this price segment, it is manageable, and then one or two sprays won't hurt. However, this is where the fragrance has its clear weakness.

Conclusion: For me, it was an absolutely lucky purchase that gave me a fragrance that I wouldn't want to be without for the summer months. The highlight of the fragrance is of course the outer packaging. But the "Plörre" can also be smelled and can be a great alternative for some people.

I just wonder how the Swiss came up with the idea of creating such a beach fragrance?
