Disappointing
I was in Tokyo when this fragrance was released, and I was really looking forward to buying it as a memento of my Japan trip.
On release day, I made my way to the nearest Maison Margiela counter where I knew it would be available. I was so determined to bring it home that I was convinced I'd buy it even if it wasn't quite love at first sniff.
Alas...
The opening is beautiful - unusual, a little weird even, but still very wearable. Unfortunately, the drydown is another story. It settles into that synthetic, chlorinated woody smell so prevalent in modern perfumery. The kind that burns my sinuses and, to my nose, smells like bleach.
Such a disappointment, especially for a fragrance I was so excited to make part of my memories of Japan.
