Very sad.....no meditative tea ceremony

Have received the fragrance as a fragrance sample and was as a tea and matcha fan totally excited about the implementation of the new replica fragrance.

To take one thing in advance:
The fragrance is basically not badly made, but the theme has been totally missed here.

Instead of matcha meditation and a Japanese tea ceremony, you get a flowery powdery-sweet fragrance that seriously misses tea moments. As a true matcha fan, I perceive this component on me little to none. Very very pity.

At the very beginning, it has a slight resemblance to Winter palace (memo paris), but the fragrance is carried more by the citrus components of bergamot and tangerine.the change to the flowery takes place quite quickly and then the first teeeindruck is already passé.
jasmine and O-flower are then main actor, powder joins them and at the latest at this point you wonder as a wearer, what the title of the fragrance wants to have in common with the fragrance itself.

Woody components I do not smell at all.The
Base is dominated by white chocolate.

We note:
The geisha is gone, the ceremony cancelled, understandable, let her serve chocolate with the matcha....

for real tea fans,looking for another authentic tea scent,promising tart moments,matcha meditation is not really suitable.

rather feminine than unisex

Durability sillage are fine.

Had the fragrance had a different theme to the subject,no idea......maybe "afternoon tea at Rapunzel".....would not have been so disappointed expectations and the rating would have been better.

The American way of the tea ceremony

As a self-confessed tea drinker and tea lover I come of course olfactory not past tea perfumes. Meanwhile, I was allowed to test quite a few tea scents and this one has remained particularly in my memory:

The start is just wonderful! When spraying on such an original matcha note comes to light, which immediately brings me back to Japan in a tea ceremony. I, in the kimono, holding the steaming bowl of tea in the hands, which my predecessor lovingly whipped up with the bamboo whisk. A moment of peace. I have yet to smell that in a perfume!

The pleasure is unfortunately, however, instantly over again. Just as you are supposed to empty the matcha bowl in 3 sips, Replica has implemented the experience too seriously and already 10 minutes later my bowl is empty.

In a real tea ceremony, sweets are also eaten, called Wagashi. In this fragrance then also a lot of sweetness appears, but rather something in the creamy direction. The fragrance pyramid talks about white chocolate here. This light sweetness is then mixed with white flowers. This sounds harmonious and to me it also smells like that!

This brings me to the conclusion that matcha is a niche tea. But in order for matcha to expand its success into the modern world outside of traditional Japan, additives had to be added:

Milk and sugar.

As a matcha latte, green tea made it not only to the modern cafes of Tokyo, but also to America and Starbucks. And thus to the whole world. The masses just don't like tart and bitter, they like sweet. This is probably exactly why Replica thought the scent would be better received if it wasn't just tart, or as some even say "fishy".

So the Japanese became an American tea ceremony: in a to-go mug with cream and sugar and a piece of cake to go with it. First matcha and then jasmine tea. From tart to smooth. From bitter to sweet.

Even if I would wish that the matchanote in this fragrance stays much longer, this fragrance convinces me. It remains namely despite everything a harmonious and creamy-fine tea fragrance, which is unlike most tea fragrances not only in the summer wearable.

Matcha latte is indeed betrayal of the "Ur-Matcha" but still better than no matcha at all...

Matcha at last

I am a big matcha fan.
I love matcha as a flavor in anything where you have the option to choose a matcha flavor. So why not also smell like matcha, I thought?
So off we went on our journey.

Blue Matcha from Montale? Somehow not really as matcha-like as I had hoped. Too bad
Le Matcha from LeLabo? Somehow not really as matcha-like as I had hoped. Too bad
Matcha & Fragipani from 4711? Somehow not really as matcha-like as I had hoped. PITY

All right, on to the next fragrance, Matcha Meditation by Maison Margela with a stable 6.6 rating on Parfumo, great. Somehow not really STOP. It smells just as matcha-like as I had hoped - YAY!!!

I don't quite know why the reviews for the fragrance are so bad. Joa it's very sweet, but I always add a tablespoon of sugar to my matcha. Maison Margela has also used this unhealthy but delicious insider tip here. This really just smells like a sweet matcha latte to me.

Perhaps the rating can be explained by the fact that the fragrance itself is perhaps not as high-quality and well-balanced as the LeLabo interpretation, but it is exactly what I was looking for.

A sweet matcha fragrance - yay!

Matcha /green tea

Tasted it on paper and on skin too
First spray is authentic green tea / matcha scent
And this goes along with other notes until dry down..
It’s more like paper and green tea
I would say clean scent and later white flowers take over and dry down become more like very commercial mass appealing mix of designers perfumes in duty free. Still there is green tea in the air, something different and nice but that dry down is dominant.
I would prefer, if it will stay tea scent all the time
So in the end overall review is that in the end it smells quite commercial designer perfume with small tea hint ..
some Zara scents has similar dry down

Do I want to smell like a matcha latte?

A little ray of sunshine came along. Matcha Meditation has been discontinued from a huge retailer and to my luck, it was discounted by 70%. Yes, you read that right!

Even though my first and only impression of it was from a paper strip, it wasn't good, but I just could not pass on this opportunity. Let's be honest. Nothing like some retail therapy!
Very green and very sweet. Matcha Meditation opens with a blast of a duality. The greeness is so realistically green and the sweetness so chocolatey. Matcha Meditation smells like white chocolate covered in ceremonial grade matcha. It is mind boggling how realistic it is.

Bitterness from the matcha, creaminess like that of full fat soy milk and heavy sweetness from agave. Matcha Meditation is a perfect replica of a hot cup of matcha latte. The question is, do I want to smell like a matcha latte?
The bitterness lingers on and the sweetness is at the cusp of being nauseating, but something about Matcha Meditation and the sunshine outside makes it worthwhile. After complete dry down, the fragrance is a true springtime scent of white florals, sweetness and notes of green. I don't think I will be reaching for it that often, because it is quite sweet, but I am so happy to have this in my collection.
