The Sparkling Wine Cellar – A Masterful, Balanced Contrast Freshie
With Xplicit Poppy, the house of Mancera has achieved an absolutely fascinating, innovative balancing act within its Xplicit Collection.
The fragrance is an incredibly successful, characterful all-rounder. It brings exactly the structure and juicy substance that make a modern niche creation absolutely exciting.
Scent: 9/10
The opening delivers a bitter, crisp grapefruit masterfully carried by a zesty, boozy Sauvignon Blanc accord.
From the very first second, this smells immensely vibrant and brings that wonderful boozy wine vibe, which comes across completely natural and sparkling.
As the fragrance develops, it gains a soft floral edge.
A subtle, creamy osmanthus blossom joins a delicate peony and herbal, dark patchouli.
Attentive readers of my reviews will know that I am truly no fan of overly floral scents—and what can I say, to my nose, this fragrance is absolutely perfectly balanced.
Up to this point, it is already a really great scent for me, but the drydown then brings exactly the notes that made me so interested in this fragrance in the first place.
That is when balsamic Peru balsam and Laotian oud come together with dry vetiver.
Everything remains within a very subtle background framework.
For my taste, it could have been a bit stronger, but this way, the fragrance is an absolute mass-pleaser.
Longevity: 9/10
The performance is outstanding, just like almost every Mancera fragrance.
Conclusion:
For me, this fragrance is an absolute bullseye.
In my opinion, it is completely suitable as an all-day scent for autumn and spring.
You can easily blind-buy this one.
