Le Parfum MaxMara 2026

Edit: After wearing this a few times, it really does take exactly one spritz and this fragrance will last all day. More than that and the tuberose gets a little bubblegummy over several hours. Still in love with this scent but definitely apply it sparingly for the best results!

I think this might be the first time I've sampled a perfume at a store and immediately grabbed a full bottle. Usually I need to try a sample a couple of times or at least give it the day to sit. This was so good even on the paper sampler, I had to get it before I left the store. This was such a sumptuous surprise find for me. I am a tuberose girly so the top notes grabbed me immediately. The floral notes are so flirty and playful and dreamy! The vanilla comes in, holding hands with the tuberose, a lovely soft and creamy hum that keeps everything working together. These notes never fully dissipate either but they rather politely let the woody elements ground the scent as it lays on the skin. There's a kind of birch beer lilt to it as it settles down, but it never gets too sweet for me.

This fragrance fascinates me because it's somehow youthful and playful and bright and also mature, elegant and refined all at the same time. The sillage is quite strong, so one or two pumps go quite a long way.

Quick side note, as much as I love Eilish, I feel like this is what I wanted Eilish to be. There's a bit more drama, a bit more flounce to this fragrance, even though (at least to my nose) the notes are similar.

“A cozy blanket with a delicate spicy edge” is how I described Max Mara Le Parfum from 2008 a few years ago. This little gem by Vincent Schaller is one of my absolute favorites for all kinds of formal occasions. Through a combination of florals, fruit, musk and woods, it creates what I consider the perfect bridge between a gentle charmer that delicately envelops you and, above all thanks to its spicy nutmeg note, the fragrance of a tough businesswoman who stands firmly with both feet on the ground. I found it so perfect that I was prepared to pay probably ten times what a 30-ml bottle of this discontinued perfume originally cost.

Fragrances from the Italian fashion brand Max Mara are something of insider tips in the perfume sector. From 2007 until recently, just seven fragrances were launched, although I believe Ouverture, which like all the others is no longer available anywhere and, if it is, only at astronomical prices, may even be somewhat older. Unfortunately, Parfumo tells us nothing about its year of release. So naturally my curiosity was piqued when the fashion house announced a new fragrance that also bears the name “Le Parfum”, just like my little favorite from 2008.

Before I launch into a long speech, I will keep it brief: the new Le Parfum, created by Fabrice Pellegrin and Marie Salamagne, certainly no unknowns, is a typical zeitgeist fragrance with an Ambrocenide base. Everything I do not want to wear and that bothers me even from a distance. Of course I was initially disappointed, because I had expected something special that I would also want to wear. Especially from a brand that has always kept somewhat scarce in the fragrance segment and from which I had hoped to find something different from what nearly everyone is doing today. Florals, sometimes a little fruit, vanilla sweetness and Ambrocenide, inspired by what the niche sector, be it Parfums de Marly, Initio, Tiziana Terenzi, Xerjoff and many others, practices just as much and succeeds with. After all, even heritage houses such as Guerlain, Chanel and Parfums de Nicolaï have already jumped on this bandwagon. And I assume the cash registers are ringing for them too.

And although I do not like this fragrance here at all, I have to acknowledge that Pellegrin and Salamagne have nevertheless succeeded in dressing the character of my little gem from 2008 in a modern guise. Because Le Parfum 2026 also has this warm radiance on a cool, almost somewhat frosty base, just expressed with notes that perfumers nowadays prefer to work with, above all because that is what consumers demand.

And despite the Ambrocenide, Le Parfum 2026 is by no means as loud and oppressive as many other fragrances today. I might even like it on others, but I do not want to put these smoking stacks of a chemical plant on my skin.

Yes, somehow this is still Max Mara. Made for a younger generation. With different ideas about what makes a beautiful fragrance. Although I find the interpretation partly successful, I cannot, also due to my personal taste, give it more than five points. Because unfortunately, to me, such modern compositions no longer smell like perfume. When it came to the reinterpretation of Guerlain’s classic L’Heure Bleue, which I also consider a well-made modern fragrance, provided it suits your taste, my first association was actually a biocide. And unfortunately, I now have images like that in my head when I encounter quite a few products that are allowed to call themselves perfume. There is no question that Pellegrin and Salamagne can do things differently too. But people my age are probably no longer the target audience. What a shame.

I don't usually write really long reviews. I am a quiet and passionate reader. However, I somehow feel provoked by the negative reviews of Le Parfum.
I never buy a perfume straight away - I always need a little time to let a fragrance work its magic on me, because scents that don't suit me quickly give me a headache. Recently, I was really in the mood for something sweet, vanilla-like and creamy, something a woman can immerse herself in straight after her morning shower, instantly conjuring up a golden, bright mood. Normally, I can't tolerate particularly sweet fragrances, even though I actually love them.
However, I took Le Parfum straight to the checkout.
I wouldn't say that this fragrance is a masterpiece, but it has a restrained elegance in its creamy sweetness. It is gentle in an almost aristocratic way thanks to the tuberose, which starts out very well balanced - and that is exactly what I like so much about it.
Now I can enjoy early autumn just a little bit more. Le Parfum definitely lifts my mood and puts me in the mood for warm, golden autumn sunshine, even when outside, as is currently the case here in the north, the wind is raging and the rain is lashing against the windows. I really like this fragrance, and it will accompany me this autumn.

First of all, I would like to mention the incredible longevity-even after
showering, I could still detect traces of this perfume on me. The first spray comes with a generous dose of tuberose, very feminine and self-assured. It reminds me of a spirited Italian woman full of joie de vivre who laughs and gestures loudly. She captivates everyone, naturally she is very well dressed and enjoys flirting. After a good half hour, the fragrance has settled and become closer to the skin, with slightly woody aromas - very distinctive. I think it suits every situation- in business, a stylish dinner, the theatre or a dance party, or in the evening for those hours together…. The bottle looks beautiful and serves as a small decorative object. Very successful, it is available in different sizes, and the prices are moderate. It fits perfectly into autumn and will certainly appeal to many women. Max Mara - this name stands for very special fashion and now for a very special fragrance.
