A safe leather clubber
Mercedes-Benz does not only make good cars. As a car perfume brand they also know how to create appealing fragrances, such as Black Leather. With Honorine Blanc, the Stuttgart company has also hired a well-known perfumer. Sometimes, Mercedes-Benz Black Leather is a successful in-house creation.
The perfume actually reminds me a bit of a car, which is delivered fresh from the factory and has a pleasant new leather smell inside. A sweet, powdery and slightly fruity combination with subtle leather accords was created. In fact, this sweetness didn't remind me so much of Iris in the beginning (as Iris does in Prada L'Homme or Montale Intense). Although it is typically iris-powdery, it contains a component of a red fruit that reminds me a little of raspberry. But to make sure this raspberry doesn't look too dominant or feminine, the fragrance has been given an oriental kick with incense. The leather, on the other hand, does not appear dry and obtrusive, unlike classic leather scents, but is always nice and discreetly felt as a base. The powdery-sweet components literally soften the dryness of the leather.
Over the entire fragrance process (approx. 6h) the scent does not really change. It remains relatively constant. Especially because it has no typical leather character, it is suitable for the masses, especially for those who might find leather repulsive. The sweetness with slightly dark chords makes it an absolutely suitable club scent. If the Sillage were any stronger, it wouldn't even be better for club visits.
Personally, however, I would have liked this fragrance to have a bit more depth in the base, be it stronger patchouli or spicy woods, to give the perfume more sexiness. This could perhaps make the fragrance look a bit more mature and adult.
Thus Mercedes-Benz Black Leather is a fragrance that could definitely appeal more to a young audience. Best worn casually in spring or autumn as a day or night scent, Black Leather should therefore be a pleasant crowdpleaser
