Cologne du Maté - Light, but not fleeting. Unexcited, but not arbitrary.
Cologne du Maté came to me rather accidentally as a sample. I had no expectations - and yet after the first wear, it was clear: I need the bottle. This blend of fresh citrus notes, a pleasantly dry herbaceousness, and a calm, unexcited base immediately caught my attention: clear, relaxed, slightly bitter citrus.
The fragrance starts bright and friendly, like a freshly peeled mandarin. It’s less "sweet ripe mandarin juice," more "delicate, slightly bitter, a bit green citrus scent." Along with this comes a fine, almost floral, bright freshness.
Over time, the scent becomes drier and gains more depth. A green, slightly bitter note emerges, bringing me a sense of calm and clarity. Nothing loud, rather a gentle grounding.
After a while, a soft, skin-close impression remains: warm-dry citrus, reserved, clean. A bit like the scent of clothes that hung in the sun during the day. More Spanish sun than North Sea...
Briefly about H/S: A calm, confident scent with solid, albeit not overwhelming longevity - on me, it lasts about six hours, then it becomes very close to the skin. It doesn’t fill a room, but it doesn’t aim to (and neither do I, by the way).
For me, Cologne du Maté is therefore a perfect everyday fragrance with quiet elegance - for the office, especially in spring/summer. A daytime/sunlight scent. More suited for light fabrics, for an unexcited clothing style, more linen shirt than tuxedo.
Cologne du Maté radiates serenity. It is a scent that doesn’t need a stage to make an impression. It accompanies without demanding. Light, but not fleeting. Unexcited, but not arbitrary.
