Greyland Montale

When the wind blows, it extinguishes the candle and stirs the fire.
Greyland is a great fragrance!
And broadly speaking, I agree with Imel regarding his associations. But at this point, I diverge:
Desert? Yes! Dry, no water in sight. But the Wild West, steppes, and prairies are not the setting of Greyland.
“Greyland” takes place in the desert of Iraq, on the border with Saudi Arabia!
No cowboy on a horse, but a small caravan of camels peeking out from the slits of their headgear to protect themselves from the swirling sand.
It’s almost sunset, but the air is still thick. The sun sets in a fiery red, the air shimmers. Sand is in the air, it smells of oil everywhere, and on the horizon, you can see a source here and there that has been ignited.
Greyland is a dark fragrance. It smells smoky, but not of burnt woods, rather of synthetic materials that slowly smolder. What is easily detectable is the sandalwood; unfortunately, the rose does not reveal itself to me. But I also don’t know if I would have wanted it here. A truly floral note wouldn’t be very fitting here, have you ever seen a flower bed in the desert? Furthermore, guaiac wood is very present, but I have come to love this material and can hardly get enough of it!
Earthy. Synthetic. Leathery. Slightly woody. That is Greyland.
However, the fragrance is not so extreme or overpowering that it becomes almost unwearable. It is quite elegant, perhaps not as much as a “Black Tie” or an “Explorer,” but this scent can definitely be worn for going out or for dinner. No problem at all. Of course, Greyland will not be to everyone’s taste. And that’s a good thing ;)
I give it 90%.
