First Eat, Then Love
Arabians Tonka was the first fragrance of this kind I got under the nose. My first niche fragrance. I had him with an order as a sample in my package. At that time I was not yet registered at Parfumo and could not inform myself what to expect. Since I knew until that time only designer fragrances I also did not know's of the existence of such
"Fragrance Bombs." I mean that positively, because durability and sillage are already very important to me.
I like to test new fragrances in the night shift, because I'm mostly alone and can not bother anyone with possible missteps.
So I took Arabians Tonka with me to work and sprayed him, as my colleague had gone, generously. For my at this time still untrained nose was the absolute smell shock ! These intense scents and the insane sillage have totally overwhelmed me. What I smell there I could not have said, but the scent caused me slight nausea. Today I know that there are fragrances in which 2 sprays are enough, and 4 to 5 sprays are definitely too much!
What surprised me very much, everyone who met me in my night service said I smell very good! And I was ashamed all the time because I thought " they are kidding me ".
Even my husband told me the next morning that I smell very good. He very rarely does that!
The next night shift I was greeted by an insanely great smell when I took my cardigan out of the locker. Beautifully spicy, warm and pleasantly sweet.
I am totally intrigued, is this the Arabians Tonka ??? WOW, I am overwhelmed by this beautiful fragrance !!!
It has then nevertheless lasted over a month until I dared to spray him again! This time at home and only a spray on the arm. And I must say the scent has flashed me again. This time in the positive sense. Due to the careful dosage I was able to enjoy the scent now. This beautiful saffron with the not too intense bergamot, so beautiful. In the heart note a rose to kneel down ( actually I don't like rose so much in perfume), finely interwoven with oud and leather. This way the scent lingers for a very long time. In the drydown, the rose is coated with sugar and tonka bean and musk join in. This gives the scent a subtle spice. So nice the scent stays for a very, very long time. Perceptible on my skin for more than 24 hours, on clothes for days. This fragrance is for me a masterpiece, you just must not overdo it !

I would never have thought that a fragrance that has almost disgusted me at the first testing can inspire me later so! And my environment he also likes. So dear people, always best to test several times. Maybe you also experience one or the other surprise

The fleeing stallion perfumes himself
I knew that at some point the time would come, at some point the point would come when I would be told that my passion for perfume would create difficulties in my open-plan office. Although my colleagues are very steadfast and are used to a lot, this time I overdid it a bit. But the fact that it happens with this Montale Arabians Tonka surprises me a lot. Even my ombre nomad from Louis Vuitton has already provided for escape reflexes with a sprayer, but this Montale surprises me a little bit.

As I had a somewhat divided relationship with the brand during my previous experiences with it, I wanted to try the fragrances that sounded quite good to my ears and should contain notes that I otherwise find quite pleasant. These include Oud Dream, Bengal Oud and this Arabian Tonka. Especially the latter one seemed to be in great demand, because my share was filled up incredibly fast.

First of all, I can say that the fragrance does not sniff the four-legged friend that is depicted on the bottle. Otherwise you probably would have thought you had a zoologist under your nose. The flacon itself is the normal Montale standard. I find these aluminium bottles quite decorative, but they are also wonderfully suitable for sharing, because you can simply screw them on. However, the quality is generally quite low. What can you expect if you expect at least a halfway high quality fragrance for the price?

Arabian's Tonka is one of those fragrances I never had great expectations of. Since my experiences so far have been rather fluctuating, I was hoping for a very pleasing scent after all. Also the rose, which Montale likes to use very much, has always been quite annoying for me. Looking at it closely, I can say that the rose comes out less than expected, but it makes itself felt in a different way.

The fragrance is a very cuddly firework on the skin. Because it is very pleasing, flatters the nose and does not appear overly sweet. Just the beginning reminds of a Bourbon vanilla, which was slightly heated. Delicate fine aromas, sweetishly matt wood and wafer-thin rose petals. Little by little the woodiness decreases a little and the rose comes out a little more. For me as a rose hater but never in a way that would bother me.

It must be said, however, that despite its beautiful scented character, the fragrance is not an extraordinary scent. It doesn't create the associations or thoughts of a Mortal Skin, Black Gemstone or Ombre Nomade for me. Rather the feeling that we are simply dealing with a very good fragrance. One that should appeal to many, as I have not received any negative comments so far. If I had to compare it, I would think of a somewhat unsweet vanilla crescent with a rosewater wrap.

But the big fireworks will then take place in the Sillage. Admittedly, I used four sprayers in the first test, but with these sprayers I fogged a 100 square meter office up to the ceiling, so that the smoke detectors and sprinkler system thought about switching to active mode for a short time. Because in the surrounding area a turgid rose with vanilla aromas has spread, which caused a bit of gasping. I heard a bit of it myself, but not to this extreme degree. Because the durability is also extremely good, so the day with the fragrance is definitely yours.

Arabia's tonka times four and the day is yours
In any case, I have made my experiences, so I will pay attention to a lower dosage next time. Because this montal will blow you away

Application for companion
Dear Sir or Madam,

i hereby apply for their advertised position of escort.
Other well known fragrances have made me aware of your vacancy.

The job of an escort has long appealed to me. Just working with people and the versatility that comes with this job made me send my application to them.

My greatest strengths are my steadfastness, my positive charisma and my irrepressible strength. Also of particular note are my good rose handling, balance and unisex qualities.

In the job description, they made it clear that they were looking for a sweet, independent companion. I can totally identify with those qualities as well.

I would be very happy to receive an invitation to an interview where they can see my qualities for themselves.

With kind regards

A. Tonka
Moin you dear perfumos and a nice Sunday to you all.

Yes this (or something like it) is probably what my application would look like if I were a fragrance.

The Arabians Tonka I had for a long time on the list and for a few months he finally won the job posting and was now allowed to enjoy, as one of many, the trial run in the winter. And what can I say - the trial period is over - and he is definitely hired indefinitely. :-)

But let's start pragmatically.

Flacon: 6/10

Yes, visually look the Montaleflakons from afar yes not so wrong. But on closer inspection and my haptic sensation they seem quite... - how do I package this politically correct? -.....schlicht. Ultra thin sheet metal, extremely light, modest sprayer quality. No way to tell when they're full. Well....there's clearly room for improvement.

The fragrance: 9.5/10

Normally, I would start here now with the obligatory line "Let's give ourselves to the scent." We delete that here but times. :-) because a real scent progression is almost not given in this fragrance. The horse skips over the stated top notes quite expertly. I don't really perceive bergamot or saffron. Could be that they resonate subliminally, my nose doesn't detect it. But that doesn't detract from this dreamy scent. On the contrary. Here, the name simply says it all. The scent is really a tonka bean (paired with sugary sweetness) rose scent with Arabian charm. Of course, the scent isn't a spicy thoroughbred now - it already comes riding around the corner in a very crowd-pleasing way (I promise that was the last mediocre horse pun), but even that doesn't detract from the scent. The rose is very nicely packaged here and has that typical Montalian rose DNA. I'm generally not a rose person, but I always enjoy smelling the Montalerose. The oud is a very subtle representative and not a bit dominant. On the contrary, the oud knows it's not the main player here and blends pleasingly into the overall picture. Tonka and sugar clearly take the reins here. (okay, but now it's really over)
This fragrance is of course not the great perfume art - but honestly? It doesn't always have to be. Arabians Tonka is, at least for me, just the hammer.

Abstract: sweet, loud, saulecker with light Arabian nuances (Oud + rose - both discreetly restrained)

Durability: 10/10 (he would also have earned a twelve!)

The fragrance lasts and lasts and lasts. Three sprays bring one quite easily through the day. Even the next morning on the skin!!! still perceptible. Even for a Montale the durability is above average.

Sillage: 10/10

Yes what can I say, with said 3 sprays you are most certainly perceived 6 hours. The first 3-4 hours even at more than an arm's length distance. What impressed me particularly is that even I perceive this fragrance after 6 hours again and again. The scent is a true powerhorse. (Damn, again)

Compliments: 10/10

Yeah what can I say, this thing works. Properly dosed, you'll get a response to this scent. I have not yet received a negative, but a lot of enthusiastic feedback. Arabians Tonka is very well received.

Wearability: 5,5/10

So for me as a man goes (unfortunately) only in autumn / winter and possibly to party - although this fragrance is almost too bad for me to celebrate. In no case would I wear it in the office - and if so then with a discreet spray - it radiates too strongly in closed rooms. But as a woman I can imagine this fragrance properly dosed also in spring or on a cool summer evening. The scent is the epitome of a unisex fragrance anyway. And by the way, my wife loves it at least as much as I do. He is also definitively repurchased again and again - although a bottle by the incredible performance should probably survive even two three good winters.

Price / performance: 9/10

For me, the price is absolutely fine for this quality. But this applies to all Montsledüfte, which are generally a good entry into the non-segment. Pleasing, affordable and still unique.

Conclusion:

Arabians Tonka is for me the most beautiful Montaleduft so far. Loud, sweet, vulgar and simply delicious. Who likes sweet fragrances, which will come here most certainly at his expense. And he may also buy blind. It has successfully applied to me. It won my heart at a gallop. (okay, I give it up) :-)

As always hanseatic greetings and see you soon :-)

The first Montale
First time Arbabians Tonka.... I went to the Breuninger to try this fragrance. Together with my best homie we were standing in Breuninger in front of the Montale shelf when two random girls came up to us and asked us what we were looking for. I told them that we were looking for Arabians Tonka, but unfortunately this sample was already empty and I couldn't smell it. The two were completely enthusiastic and told us how extremely krass gehyped at the moment this fragrance is and that I have to get this absolutely. Since, as I said, the sample was empty and we could not smell the fragrance on site, my colleague ordered the 100ml directly in the online shop. After a week then as the perfume arrived, I drove to his home to fill me the Tonka. When I arrived home, I sprayed me in the morning exactly two splashes (1xHandgellenk, 1x neck front) on me. Until the evening I smelled this perfume very strongly on me. The next day I sniffed again on my hoodie to look like the scent on the clothes makes. Unbelievably good! I could not get my head around how good this perfume smelled.

But one experience I could also make is that this perfume is definitely not for the office. It is really very strong and very penetrating, so I really recommend only two spritzes with this fragrance.

Nevertheless, for me a really very special and extravagant fragrance, which I have smelled so very rarely to none. The rate of compliments but kept so far still within limits, but is probably because we have to constantly wear our masks and the direct contact to the perfume / fragrance cloud is unfortunately not there.

Trotzallem I can really only recommend this fragrance, so far I have only come across the Arabians Tonka and Pure Love.

Have fun with the fragrance.

The blind purchase and my problem with Arabians Tonka
I'm sure many of us know this: receiving gifts is great. But giving someone a gift is just intoxicating. Especially when it comes to perfume. I don't know why, but most of the time I'm much more excited about gifting my partner a fragrance than buying one for myself. The only problem with this is that I often tend to buy a bottle straight away, rather than holding a sample under the gentleman's nose first. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. Such is the case with Montale's Arabians Tonka, so beloved by many.

In the short time of the Click & Meet, I had snagged a shopping appointment at the Albrecht. Full of anticipation and with the goal of getting myself a new fragrance, I let them show me 7-8 scents. Unfortunately there was nothing that I liked 100%, but of course I couldn't go back to work empty handed. So I asked the wonderful and very patient saleswoman to show me some more men's scents. I told her my partner likes it sweet and spicy, something along the lines of Layton Exclusif, and it has to last. She showed me four scents, including Arabians Tonka. I took a quick sniff and was immediately blown away, "Yes, exactly! Exactly what I'm looking for! Oh, it's delicious! Yes, he'll like it! Wrap it up once please, I'll take it with me." No sooner said than done, I drove home full of joy and handed my partner his gift. I urged him to try the fragrance immediately. He did and I waited for his reaction, which was not as enthusiastic as I had hoped. "Yes, yet smells quite good, yes, mhh mhh, quite good". I was puzzled at first because I thought he was so great after all. Then my partner swung his arm in my direction and I picked up a scent that I found quite unpleasant. We both waited out the evening, but that animalistic sweet a little sweaty smell only got stronger. Not overly so but strong enough for us to notice it. A few days later, my partner wanted to try the scent again. I had actually forbidden him to wear the scent in my presence :-D. Well, the second test also revealed this one scent that we both didn't like. And that's a shame, because the fragrance itself has quite a bit going for it.

About the fragrance:
The fragrance actually starts rather fresh spicy. I find the bergamot in the opening is only briefly but very nice. Shortly thereafter, I smell actually only sweet. The Tonka comes through super strong and actually also quite nice. Probably the combo of amber cane sugar and tonka. And then I don't know what scent or combo it is. I have a hunch that it's the Nepalese oud? I have no idea though, because so far I've only known oud from the Delina exclusive and I think it's super nice there. In the drydown the sweetness softens even more, the musk definitely does a good job here. Still, that note continues to linger and does so for hours. And yes, Arabians Tonka is a beast. The longevity is really insane and the sillage is fierce too. I think two small sprays are enough for the complete day.

Definitely a fragrance that I would not buy blindly, because it is already special. But I can well imagine that it is just this one note (probably the oud?), which many like so much. It makes the fragrance less mainstream in my opinion. Arabians Tonka definitely has a high recognition value. I'd probably sniff that one out anywhere right now. Actually, after that I had told myself, no more blind-bought fragrance gifts for the partner, but... I'm already thinking of one that he will definitely like :-D (I'll never learn)

This is Intense Cafe with less prominent rose plus Oud-Bouquet-ish saffron and bit of leather. Nuclear performance so easy on the trigger.
