Plum romanticizes with Cherry
Dense and syrupy, that's how it presents itself in the opening. Plums and cherries cooked with sugar over open fire. Seasoned with cinnamon cardamom and other oriental spices.
Honestly, if you cross out all non-edible ingredients from the pyramid, it actually sounds like a reasonable recipe for a winter fruit punch. Everything is balanced with light woods, not a trace of oud. The tobacco does not come across as burnt or dry at all, but rather like a moist shisha tobacco.

Although there are hardly any fresh and rather dark notes, it has a very youthful appearance. I can also imagine it as a great clubbing/going out fragrance in winter.

All in all a solid thing. I see similarities to Amouroud Oud after Dark or a bit more distant Arasbesque. In terms of style, it is similar to Montale Oud Tabac, but here in a more fruity direction and less honey/vanilla. Longevity Montale typical top.

In terms of the rating, I think it's a bit exaggerated at the moment, but I would give it 7.5-8 out of 10 points. Not hyper-realistic or naturally rich, but that's almost impossible with cherry notes anyway. Simply a solid scent from Montale that is sure to rank in my top 5 from the house.

Montale perfected
This has a little bit of everything the house is known for. I initially was looking for a cherry tobacco fragrance to replace Initio's Narcotic Delight, but I found myself in love with this even more than the fragrance I wanted to replace.

Though they are quite similar, the cherry here isn't as prominent and it's a better blend of all the ingredients as a whole. Lasts a long time and is, overall, a very pleasant cherried spiced plum tobacco with a strong vanilla supporting role, a rose/oud/leather that adds a touch of mysterious masculinity, and a musky amber base that smells amazing the next morning in the shower.

I recently got rid of some Montales I never wore, but I had to keep this. It's just versatile and while slightly on the sweeter side, I can tolerate it. I'm not the biggest fan of super sweet (why I didn't much care for Narcotic Delight) but this is sweet done perfectly.

Just short of too much...
Infinity may be a great example of well-executed fragrance maximalism.

It does exactly what it says on the tin, and by that I mean the notes are almost all easy to identify, even while being well blended. It starts with beautiful, deep yet luminous, juicy plum and black cherry which, on my skin and clothes, persist through to the very drydown and base. The other players, like the rose, the tobacco, the cardamom, the tonka, and the musk each take their turn to shine brightly throughout the 8+ hour voyage. Oh, yes: longevity is insane/incredible. On clothing, a full day later you still get a plum/cherry/oud mix that projects.

Which brings me to the strong notes here. You have that oud alongside leather, saffron, and vetiver, and they've all been dialed up to... 9.999. The oud is smokey, the leather provides heft, and the saffron and vetiver bring a bit of spice/sparkle. These are four baritones, none of whom has a solo but all of whom have still been instructed to show off during the song. It's a lot, a WHOLE lot, but somehow they still don't clash. Almost overwhelming, but never quite getting there. Olfactory brinksmanship.

Which ends up meaning that Infinity is strong. It is a beast. It lasts, it stays, and it projects. To the point where I, someone who cares about longevity and sillage, have started wondering whether there's a dupe of Infinity that's a bit less bombastic, for when I want to smell this exact combination but on a casual, calm night in.

The constant interplay between the notes means the composition is at times boozy, at times musky, at times powdery. It's honestly kind of magical. As always, but for this one especially, try before you buy!

Rose/oud with cherry, a neat variation of the usual Montale formula, well done
Montale Infinity is a 2023 release, a blend that includes the very common (to the line) rose and oud combination but with a prominent black cherry note that keeps it dark while also sweet, juicy, and fruity, along with an uncharacteristically long list of notes from which I also get a bit of leather, saffron, and pepper, vaguely, with a pinch of vanilla. It’s a pretty great blend but it’s a bit sharp and heady between the oud, cherry, and rose, so it’s not as easygoing of an entry as Oud Dream or Oud Edition, but is perhaps a little more daring than either. Still, I’d recommend checking it out if you’re a fan of this genre of fragrance, particularly within Montale/Mancera, who reliably put out a lot of oud/rose-type fragrances to the point of redundancy, so it’s just a matter of sorting out which ones you like the most. I don’t think that this eclipses other recent favorites in Montale Oud Dream or Mancera Precious Oud but it’s still very good and I’d surely wear it a bunch if I had a bottle. The oud is a bit sharp but not animalic or medicinal, so it’s acceptable within normal parameters of the house.

Infinity has the standard Montale pricing of $170 for 100ml, sold through retailers like Olfactif, from whom I bought my sample, and it does not currently appear to be available on the secondary market.

Love it
"If the doors of perception were cleared, everything would appear as it is, infinite." -William Blake
Infinity is a fragrance that has contrasts inside it: sweet, with its fruity notes ( of plum and cherry first and foremost) and hard ( with Oud and suede notes ) at the same time, impressive and delicate, but absolutely beautifully structured.
Fall in love with this symphony and feel a feeling of infinite greatness, like love.
As soon as I tried it, I loved it; I found it elegant and distinguished in its own right.
It is more discrete than the other Montales and literally won me over.
Perfect for all occasions and seasons.

Smells like Amouroud Oud after Dark. Sweet plum/cherry mix, almost gooey. Has nothing to do with Homme Ideal EdP.

Standard oud/rose combo with dominant leather note in the opening. Supporting notes are nice but overwhelmed.

Very nice black cherry and plum. No complexity but very good scent. Very linear. Projection average, not loud

Smells like cherry shampoo, synthetic to bone. Another failure from Montale.

I mainly get plum, sandalwood, tobacco and sweetness, with a bit of cherry and smokiness. Leans slightly masculine for me.

Infinity is a blend of plum, cherry, saffron and tobacco over a woody-musky base. Sweet, overly synthetic and linear, typical of Montale.

They tried to copy Hedonistic, but this has 0 complexity - opens more Duchessa (cherry), dries more Blessed Baraka (amber-woody base).
