Good Boy Or Not, It's A Beefcake
When writing this thought of mine, there are still no reviews of this new perfume, it was launched a few days ago, and there is no news on the web. I'm not a GOOD BOY smells similar to the fragrances they have sold and lure their targets with trendy notes: Iso E Super and Ambroxan. More often than not, these colognes follow proper marketing guidelines that leave little creativity to the master perfumers. But even these perfumes are not necessarily without merits. Moreover, although they are focused on the trending elements, they can still have some of their personalities if the secondary notes are well orchestrated. IMNAGB embraces the male trend of amber-woody and aromatic fougères, first of all, the Dior Sauvage EDT.
Sturdy, slightly peppery and fruity, but also musky. Opening on a fresh minty vibe like the mentholated topical ointment Vicks Vaporub, a burst of citrus fruit and exhilarating peppery accord, it begins as a remarkably sharp fragrance. Overall, the head is light and little depth at first. Its freshness, edgy and intrusive, comes from lots of sour and metallic bergamot and a spicy, citrusy lavender. It gets a little aromatic. The pepper note is so faint that describing it as "spicy" would be an exaggeration. Still, it releases a tangy vibration with lemony and slightly camphoric accents. The bergamot plays a fundamental role; it is deep and vibrant and provides a fresh warmth for half the perfume's life and balances the ambroxan accord that comprises the other half. These notes are hanging somewhere between sweetness, freshness, and generally just washed sheets. By using known materials combined with the effect of cleaning, you get the impression that IMNAGB is for a modern man, he's a good guy or not.
In the heart, I caught a faint hint of leather and violet leaf and, for a moment, thought of Dior's Fahrenheit, but that was only a fleeting suggestion. As it develops, the fragrance travels familiar territory, rocky terrain of lavender and ambroxan, creating an air of free spirit, herbaceous, and mineral. I get even mild geranium and imperceptible earthy patchouli, which yields some substance to the blend so far. However, lavender and pepper develop an intriguing arrangement, pretty cool. Here emerges a powerful note of ambergris sea breeze, which adds a slight touch of animal musk. It is further extended by an oily note akin to leathery labdanum. The resulting blend introduces the characteristic balsamic accords, which dominate here. This step makes the most austere composition.
As you go deep into the dry down, an oriental heat takes hold. Things differ in the addition of coumarin, a rogue note that brings the scent on a distinct path. It elevates the spice and lavender and provides contrast, allowing the tartness of pepper and invigorating citrus to shine through the juxtaposition of a vanilla, talc, spicy and oriental note. It's all incredibly subtle, nuanced, and refined. The base announces itself with an impression of lavender, which is the warm notes' crucial component. The sweet character develops further in the ground, with a coumarin mixed with an amber undertone. A generous dose of the Iso E Super and the warmth of the ambergris note reproduced by the Ambroxan contribute to the rest.
In contrast to the bright, spicy opening, the finish goes deep into the passionate musk, which has a somewhat soapy odor. Dark as the fluid's color, the manly touch of patchouli is modern yet intense and muscular. When IMNAGB nears the end, it softens in a state away from its radically fresh opening. The patchouli now is slightly smooth, while the feeble, earthy vetiver lingers in the background, and the scent of the woody notes remains close to the skin.
IMNAGB is essentially a pleasant contrast between citrusy freshness and amber-woody warmth, presenting this outdoorsy feel within a composition versatile and enjoyable enough to wear for any occasion. It's a cologne that transitions from work to leisure and from day to night effortlessly. Overall, I'm not a GOOD BOY's aromatic composition makes it a decisive spring and autumn blend, still suitable for cooler summer nights. It is a fragrance that suits the warmer months very well. Likewise, its mildness would strive to be noticed in the cold air of the winter months. I get moderate sillage, perfect projection, and many hours of longevity on my skin. It is a staying fragrance that will offer many hours of scent. Although they're relatively mild, they are present and will give you some performance throughout the day. It's not overpowering, nor too assertive, but the scent persists on the clothes till the day after. Reminiscent of other fragrances of its breed, such as the Bleu de Chanel and the Dior Sauvage EDT, as mentioned earlier, it's elegant and fresh.
