Artificially sweetened wood

I like the general idea of a fougere, but have a so-so luck with this particular scent profile. Sadly, this one of those times, when it simply doesn't work for me. It's a wonderfully blended fragrance overall, but it leans too sweet and aquatic for my personal tastes.

The opening is a tad bizarre hitting hard with geranium, tonka and patchouli, more reminiscent of a vintage feminine scents. Within minutes it dissipates into heavy tonka-laden synthetic wood with the hint of lavender. I must admit, lavender in this scent is done very nicely and is generally the best thing about it. But an unfortunate to my nose tonka-wood combination takes over it creating a cloying mess of a mediocre cologne.

The fragrance has great longevity and sillage, it's too bad the scent itself is way too boring and synthetic to my tastes. Maybe it'll find more love with people who are more into woody cologne types of fragrances.
