The Velvet of Antiquity
"Odin," it always reminds me of Germanic and Celtic mythology. And surely "Odin New York" has also captured these "ancient roots" in many of its fragrances. Somehow, they are all enchanted and mystical. Each in its own way.
Through a dear "Parfuma," I received a fragrance sample of "00 Aurin," and have now "sniffed" it.
I notice the berry-spicy note that sends me on a journey to a pre-medieval garden, to a "sacred grove."
This enchanting impression is further enhanced by the roses and jasmine, with green lily of the valley in the background.
An ageless woman seems to float through this grove, dressed in a long, shimmering velvet gown. To favor the "ancient gods" with mysterious rituals.
She hums a melody that captures the soul and heart.
Trees surround her. Birches and oaks, the former with silver bark symbolizing light.
The latter gnarled, mossy, and ancient, denoting the mythical and the night. Eternal rhythm, eternal sleeping and awakening.
Herb women brew noble scents. Patchouli wafts through the twilight. Woods drive away "evil spirits."
The woman in the velvet dress begins to dream....

Odin's Melt
Also another beautiful brand, even though so far no bottle has taken root with me! I like the typical Odin melt, where sweet notes blend with woody, piney, or smoky nuances. Roam, Petrana, Amanu, or Tanoke are good examples here. It's quite similar again.
Auriel has this very light Campino candy note (dark red, blackcurrant), which I loved as a child, only here almost completely without sweetness. The fruitiness is a bit in the foreground, which quickly mixes with something woody-piney and herbaceous-spicy, taking the edge off the challenging blackcurrant note, reminding me a bit of the fruit residue from Rudis, also a scoop of Berlin in winter I think I can recognize. So, not exactly the simplest scents. I can only smell the oud in the first 5 minutes, after that a jasmine-resin mixture dominates, very aromatic and relatively not floral for me. As always, the Odin scent carpets are relatively difficult for me to decipher; they are characterized mainly by a certain homogeneity without appearing trivial.
The top note scores full points with me, an absolute candidate for purchase. After that, it gets a bit heavy for me in this extraordinary combo... exhausting would be too much to say, something is scratching at my nose... so my gut feeling says, this won't work out for us two on the first try... but maybe test again in autumn, as it probably fits better in this season.
Auriel is a beautiful unisex scent, like all Odin scents, which has very nice aspects, but for now does not trigger a Pavlovian response in me. However, as always, you get a well-rounded scent that is anything but off the shelf.
The longevity is typical for Odin, 5-6 hours, rarely more for these scents, and the sillage is as always a bit more subtle, but not skin-close... I don't know any loud scents from them, always very stylish!

An Afternoon in Mainz...
As is customary at a typical Parfumo meeting, which took place yesterday in a sociable gathering with nice community members in Mainz (thanks again to Yatagan and Capellusman), a visit to a local perfumery was, of course, on the agenda.
After a few glasses of wine, beer, and food slightly delayed us, Yatagan organized a visit to the traditional perfumery Hussong, whose owner kindly agreed to keep the store open longer for us.
Arriving in full force, we took over the shop in a flash, and the olfactory orgy began...;)

Fragrance was sprayed at every corner, and soon all the test strips were used up, so hands, forearms, upper arms, and even individual fingers had to be used for testing, leaving no skin areas available.

After the shelves on the left were cleared and the staff capitulated under this massive onslaught and sought refuge, the brave owner finally presented the brand new scent from Odin, which had just arrived from the USA a few days ago.

The lovely Amun, who had to serve as a walking test strip, sacrificed her last remaining free skin area in the crook of her arm so that we could get a sense of Auriel 00...
And it was worth it...;)

An intensely floral fresh cloud enchanted the senses, fine blackcurrant aroma, framed by mild pepper notes, rose from Amun's arm crease, and it was only with great difficulty that one could detach from it for a short time, as there were still more aromas to explore on her delicate skin.
After she had the opportunity to loosen her stiff arm for a few minutes (sorry Amun...), it was time for the next round, pleasantly noting that the fruity notes were now complemented by floral accents of rose, delicate lily of the valley, and jasmine.
Brilliant....
After we had already occupied the shop for almost three-quarters of an hour after closing time, it was only natural that Odin Auriel had to go into the shopping bag.

After this olfactory orgy, a little break was needed to come down, which was taken on a lovely terrace.
One last time, Amun's arm crease had to serve again to analyze the further scent development.
Still floral and fruity, fine sandalwood and the balsamic notes of labdanum joined the scent mirror, bringing a satisfied smile.
A very nice unisex fragrance from the house of Odin, which can also be worn on summer evenings.
During today's re-testing, the longevity proved to be very good. Even after 8 hours, the scent is still very present.
The sillage is relatively discreet and thus absolutely socially acceptable.

Thanks again to you Amun for being the test subject...;))

Thanks again to all the other participants - especially the two organizers - for this lovely afternoon!!

"Rose Nacrée du Desert" layers with "Songe d'un Bois d'Été" & "2022 Generation Man". Minty patch, liqueur-like berry puree, barn. Undulating & broad.

Spicy rosewood oud with dark depth and dried berries, actually also (contrary to the pyramid) saffron-like.

A oud scent that I really like. I can’t believe I get to experience this! A blind swap that was truly worth it,

I always find that the combination of patchouli and oud is complicated. Here, the mix is softened by floral notes. Not a must for me!

Genius floral fruity composition, with a hint of wood and pepper giving a velvety freshness.

Bouquet of flowers on a fruity-herbaceous patchouli base. Oud is rather subtle. Too dark for me, a gloomy variation of "Jubilation XXV Man."

A more modern version of Jubilation - completely without the note that makes Jubilation feel outdated. Unfortunately, this comes with some longevity drawbacks.

Sympathetic, like all Odins, extremely smooth, red-woody, berry-like;
a bit thin (and that's despite my appreciation for not-so-H&S bombs).

Despite all the differences, 00 somehow reminds me of Jubilation. Berry on spicy-resinous patch/"oud". More like than love.

The oud and patchouli base is well done, with a harmless floral layer on top that makes the scent seem a bit faint. Nice.
