Tresor’s distant niece
20 years after Tresor was released in 1990 and became a booming success for the house Lancôme, Oriflame released Volare. Volare in Italian is the verb ‘to fly’, and I suppose Oriflame hoped to fly on the wings of Lancôme’s success. They did, since the version from 2014 is still in production. This review is for the original version.
The beginning is sweet-floral. It has a strong violet-iris-apricot mix that works right away on my skin. Just like Tresôr, though Tresôr is less fruity. Volare changes after half an hour into a rosy scent. It lands in a warm woody-musky combo with a tiny whiff of flowers.
I find Volare a great replacement for Tresôr. Some may say that the two are not alike. In my opinion, both smell great. So the reason for buying Tresôr instead of Volare would be the bottle. The Tresôr bottle is iconic.
