OJ´s Darker Brother
When Ormonde Jayne announced the Elixir Collection, I caught fire. Especially since they deliberately used the highest available concentrations of perfume oil. More precisely: we are talking about 42-50% fragrance oil. That´s something between triple extrait and pure perfume. A privilege that was previously only reserved for the semi-Bespoke series "Made-to-Measure".
Since I already own the Ormonde Man (50%) and love to wear it very, very much, I was naturally curious about the whole collection. Especially since it is almost impossible to get samples of the 50% concentrations of the scents at all. They are poured at order. And start at 50ml.
Ormonde Elixir is poured at 35% percent OJ Man plus Oudh oils, to match worldwide restrictions.

For my comment I sprayed "the original" (OJ Man 50) on the left arm and Ormonde Elixir on the right arm. Both two sprays each, in order to be able to draw a realistic comparison.
So Ormonde Elixir starts green and beautiful (like his brother), complemented by a quite clear animalistic oudh note, which calms down after five minutes and gives the fragrance a darker note. After a good hour the very conscious animalism has skillfully stepped behind the curtains of the warm-green aura of the 50% OJ Man (Family) and only peaks out a little here and there. I really feel the dark, spicy woodiness, which perfectly carries the fragrance as a lasting impression. The Oudh also works out the cedar more strongly and gives the entire fragrance a woody, slightly smoky twist / mood.
Basically, both brothers are equally performant. And yet Ormonde Elixir is a bit ahead in my perception, since the (additional) Oudh simply seems to conserve the mood of the scent a little longer.
A really successful darker brother to the already masterful Ormonde Man (50%).
The fragrance will only be available exclusively from Harrods. But then in the amazingly beautful, grey smoked glass bottle, that the Montabaco Extreme was already allowed to wear. The price is 220 GBP for 50ml.
