... almost the same performance and similar aquatic scent
Invictus for me has always been placed in the border line of like/dislike. I recognise that for some people (mainly women) it's a very appealing fragrance. Invictus Acqua has been a disappointment for me and never really grabbed my attention, no matter what version I tried.
With the launching of Invictus Intense I decided to give it a shot, blind buying it some months ago, hoping for a more intense scent and better performance. The different set of notes convinced me that Intense should be a different and better invictus. Of course, sometimes curiosity kills the cat...
Invictus Intense is more linear than the original. There is a new boozy note of Whisky (or malt) that you can perceive between the opening and the heart. The ambergris note is stronger here as well. The "aquatic" fragrance feeling of the original Invictus seems to have a broader longevity with the Intense version and lasts till the beginning of the drydown. Unexpectedly (for me) this fragrance scent is VERY similar to the original, despite the different set of notes. The longevity seems to be a bit better, but both sillage and projection remain the same. All in all, with no price increase, this seems to be a better choice than the original Invictus, although its sweetness and synthetic accord is kept unchanged.
Unfortunately the tacky bottle remains the same as well, and Paco Rabanne seems to pretend to defy Armaf in the worst flask design award. Scentwise I really consider this fragrance more like a reformulation of the original than a flanker or a new and different fragrance.
How does it cope with ratings?

Longevity:..................6.5 (less than 6 hours with 3 sprays)
Sillage:........................6.5 (less than 4 feet sillage, 1.5 hours projection, with 3 sprays

Versatility:.................8.0 (at leisure by yourself, casual occasions, gym, seaside)
Compliments:...........8.5 (ladies seem to love it a lot)
Quality:......................8.0 (above average quality ingredients but the synthetic feeling is too obvious)
Presentation:............5.0 (tacky bottle)
Price:..........................6.5 (€50,00 - 100 ml); some clones are very good and cost less than half the Invictus Intense price. Example: King of Seduction Absolute by Antonio Banderas, costed me €5.00 on sale.

Overall rating: 7.32/10.0
between 7 and 8 =above average;
between 8 and 9 = recommended;
bigger than 9 = don't miss it;
Only a couple of considerations:
If you like the Invictus scent (not my case) the Intense version seems to be a better buy than the original. As a plus of my (very personal) analysis I can only praise the compliments this fragrance attracts.
Recommended? Only if you are familiar with, and like the Invictus scent. If so, I prefer this to the regular one.
Blind buy worthy? No! Do try it before you buy it.
