Bursting with cherry. Vegan friendly
So this is my 2nd of the "ME" fragrance collection from Paco Rabbane and they are all vegan friendly. My introduction to the line was Dandy Me which reminded me of another of their new releases 1 Million Royal and i am beginning to get a theme here of mostly patchouli. They are definitely using the same kind of patchouli for all 3 of these fragrances even though the 1 Million line is not tied to the ME line i often find that many of Paco Rabbane fragrances like to take parts of their existing creations swap the notes up a bit and call it something new. We even saw the 1 Million Line cross over into the Invictus line with the Invictus Victory Elixir which smelled a lot like 1 Million Lucky with the plum removed so we know they definitely do that and if it works for them then why not? Well to the customer it could be a little confusing to buy an invictus fragrance expecting something fresh and ending up with something from the 1 Million line is the last thing you expect.
With the 2 "ME" fragrances i have tested i feel like i am being given a choice of which patchouli fragrance i should buy because i don't think i would need all 3 when including the 1 Million Royal fragrance. Unless you really like this kind of fragrance and little changes here and there are fine with you, i guess that is popular when we look at the number of flankers we have been seeing over the years.
Dandy Me is a very rich floral fragrance and Major Me is very similar but with a burst of cherry in the opening. I can tell it is still there but it is not as strong as when i first sprayed it. To me the patchouli takes over for the first 30 minutes but then the cherry slowly creeps its way back in again and i am beginning to enjoy it a lot more.I should mention that it is a chocolate kind of patchouli. I am not picking up the pepper in this as normally fragrances with pepper in them is one of the notes that i pick up on easily, here it is very far in the background. Like Dandy Me i am getting the floral rose note and it doesn't push this into a feminine fragrance at all, no this is indeed a unisex fragrance. I would say of the 2 Dandy Me is a much more deeper rich fragrance while this is still very nice i am not quite as excited by it as i was with the Dandy Me opening even though they are similar once settled. You are swapping out a couple of notes and giving you a cherry experience. The 2 most prominent notes are definitely the Cherry and Patchouli which compliment each other very nicely as they dance around one another as they fight for the dominance of strongest note.
The fragrance doesn't smell cheap to me in any way at all yet prices are very good here in the UK with this being only £65 on the Paco Rabbane website for 100ml. There is a warning of low stock btw.
I expect performance to be along the same lines of Dandy Me where the first couple of hours the projection will be great then simmer off as the day goes on however still being with you for the rest of the day when smelling your wrist giving a high longevity score. So i am 4hrs in and this has became a skin scent and is barely detectable. What i can smell is not worthy of being given a high longevity score. I have other fragrances that have patchouli that projects better for longer so really to be enjoying what this fragrance is meant to be offering i am going to have to do a respray. I am changing how i rate my fragrances. Before i would give good ratings if i could smell anything several hours after the initial spray but if all you are smelling is one note then you have lost the essence of the fragrance and smells like any other patchouli strong fragrance. To me a fragrance should have the ability to smell its own identity for the full length of time that you can smell it otherwise i could just spray a single note on my skin. So smelling a single note for hours that is a skin scent is not worthy of a high longevity score.
As an introduction to cherry fragrances which i have been interested in getting myself in to Major Me was a good starting place and has tickled my fancy. So would i pick this up as my first full priced cherry fragrance seeing as this is a sample i am going off of? Yeah i could see myself wearing this when having people round for a lovely meal, especially knowing that meal is coming with a beautiful dessert because when i close my eyes that is what i see when smelling this fragrance. A well set dining table, everyone wearing their best clothes and after finishing the other courses out comes the dessert on a silver platter waiting to be revealed as the waiter removes the covering and everyone smiles as their favourite dessert is revealed and if it smells as good as Major Me then they are indeed in for a treat.
