By Zeus
The creations of Parfums Sophiste deserve much more attention, in my opinion. I found the previously tested Sophisma with its aromatic almond-cherry wood note more than successful, and Guillotine, although still uncommented by me, certainly has its charm.

Perseus, on the other hand, is quite different. It comes with an almost galactic amount of cardamom, citrus notes combined with a good splash of blackcurrant. This leans nicely towards the sweet-sour direction. Somewhat unusual, yet also familiar.

As it develops, Perseus remains lovely with a friendly fruity-nutmeg touch. The scent lingers relatively long without any noticeable further developments. It could tend to become a bit monotonous over time, but this state is by no means unpleasant or boring. One could even argue that this EdP radiates a sympathetic aura. By the drydown, I perceive a subtle hint of resinous-woody to nutty-tonka bean-like nuances.

All in all, this Zeus offspring follows a positively paved path. The often-cited fizzy powder was less on my mind; rather, it reminds me of a subtly sparkling-fruity sweet source that seems almost never to run dry, as the longevity is exemplary. And despite the masculine namesake, Perseus is the prototype of a smooth unisex fragrance.

Ahoi-Brause :)
Perseus. Yes… just the name of a fragrance like this, with its mythological background, makes it seem mysterious and enigmatic. One immediately thinks of ancient Greece with its numerous gods and heroes, among whom the most famous must be Zeus, Poseidon, Heracles, etc…

By the way, Perseus is the name of the son of Danae, a beloved of Zeus. Perseus is locked in a box with his mother and cast out to sea because his grandfather (Akrisios) is prophesied by an oracle to be killed by Perseus. However, Danae is later rescued along with her son by Zeus and Poseidon.

But enough of that, before you get bored and click away… nooo!
So let’s get to the fragrance (waaah, the fragrance pyramid seems to have been stolen…).

The scent:
So,… hmmm difficult. The fragrance starts off fresh for a short time, then a spicy note comes in, but it doesn’t even last a minute. But then the scent smells like delicious fizzy candies with berry flavor (almost like Ahoi-Brause,… nom nom nom, hmmm).
The spicy notes, which I cannot identify, retreat to the background and weaken. They remind me a bit of caraway, cardamom, or similar spices and smell good for a short time, also reminiscent of kitchen spices, but then they weaken and later smell more like “normal, general spices,” without being able to identify them further.
I also perceive a very faint pepper, as well as… um, dried tea leaves? I’m not sure, but if you smell closely, it seems like you’re opening a pack of tea and sniffing at the dried tea leaves.
Also, in the further development of the scent, you can smell light fruity-sweet fizzy notes.
Towards the base, a light smoky, but very weak myrrh or incense cloud comes in, which makes the scent a bit more intense again, the spicy notes decrease and almost completely disappear. The tea later smells more like green tea and I believe I can also smell a bergamot. A bit later, the fragrance also takes on a woody note. Only much, much later does the scent still smell “fizzy,” but now a bit weaker, so that the fragrance seems more powdery.

The sillage and longevity:
So,… I don’t know if my sample turned out so weak, but the sillage is by no means as strong as indicated here. I would rate the projection at a maximum of 5-6 points, as it radiates well at the beginning, but really loses strength quickly, yet it remains at that level for hours without further fading.
The longevity is very good. The scent lasts more than twelve to fourteen hours on your skin. Well, at least on my skin :D

The bottle:
Yes, I will describe the bottle based on photos I just found on Google. So:
The bottle is cylindrical and has a thick glass bottom. The fragrance liquid is yellowish. On the front, there is a black round label where the name and brand of the fragrance are visible. You can also see the brand logo, a drawing of a key. The cap is black and also cylindrical and seems to be made of wood. Everything is quite okay. Oh, and the fragrances are apparently delivered in a nice, dark brown wooden box, which looks super.

So, the fragrance isn’t really that mysterious after all. But it hasn’t turned out badly either. On the contrary, the “fizzy note” smells quite pleasant and could make some people’s mouths water.

Nevertheless, one might wonder at the beginning whether the fragrance is wearable, as it (at least for me) strongly reminds of Ahoi-Brause treats. Later, it becomes “more wearable” due to the tea and woody notes.
If you want to use it, it could pass as an all-rounder, although it might seem too weak in winter. As a going-out fragrance, it’s not very suitable, but it works well as a nice daytime and leisure scent. Oh, and for me, it feels more like a unisex fragrance.

In any case, Perseus is quite interesting because of the fizzy-like note and is something different and could definitely be tested, although it might be difficult to get the fragrance, as somehow only Russian sites are found when I search for the scent.

And as for our hero:
Akrisios is eventually killed by Perseus years later, albeit rather unintentionally through discus throwing, a competition in which Perseus also participated… well… one has to have that much bad luck… but one could also say: Well, he got what he deserved!

Indefinable sweetness, dull spiciness, and a hint of incense. It doesn't even start off fizzy for me. A nice scent, nothing more.

Looks like someone is interested in ancient Greece: unfortunately just fizzy powder from aromatic chemical leftovers with a sweet base.

Spiced fizzy powder - gently leaning towards Seven Veils - just 100 times lighter.
