Lets the Cherry in the Village
Like "La Petite Robe Noir" - only finer, more wearable & unisexier. Those were my first thoughts on "Sophisma," which I tested just like Taurus at the fair last month in Düsseldorf and even brought home a small bottle. Beautiful - a brand couldn't imagine better, sweeter & more likeable. The ladies at the booth did a fantastic job and clearly brought the brand & all involved into my focus. Parfums Sophiste is worth discovering & keeping an eye on!
Sophisma is a perfume that puts the good old cherry in the foreground. However, the scent is gentle, soft & wearable, precious & never too important or feminine - all qualities that the robust fruit usually doesn't like to associate with. Even with the wizards at Guerlain, it often comes off as somewhat uncomfortable, hardly wearable for a man & awkwardly synthetic. But the little black dress in all its variations is already a great perfume. So, anyone who tops that deserves more than recognition.
The reason for the attraction that Sophisma exerts on men, perhaps even especially on men, lies in its green, slightly bitter & later creamy cognac-patchouli note - this makes us gentlemen feel comfortable & even a bit wicked & sexy. Even if a huge cherry lies next to it. The scent has something transparent, as if a few almost ripe cherries are rolling in hay. Airy, dry & never too powdery. Really fine, even for everyday wear. All together, complemented by musk & tonka of the most refined kind, it truly resembles a muted amaretto - damn good. Because even that is usually a sticky steam hammer. Not here. Elegance doesn't get better. Like an elegant elephant.
Bottle: my small bottle is simple but looks high-quality & does its job.
Sillage: discreet cherries are rare.
Longevity: 6 hours is artisanally solid, though not outstanding.
Conclusion: the best cherry on the market?! Mon Cherie for every day ;)
