it's alright i guess
i've smelled a few PDMs, and they're generally ok, although some make me think 'this much for this?' and i can't help but feel like, with the smaller size of the female line compared to the mens line (and identical price!) that i am being robbed. i do not necessarily mind being robbed but i need to be getting a 10/10 angelic straight from heaven kind of scent for this size and price.
athenais is not terrible by any means. it is pleasant, and does not smell like a burning tyre. the opening is very citrusy and fresh, and the orange blossom really dominates the fragrance. vanilla is present, and it's all very soft, ambery, etc. i would say though, that to me, for the price, it's underwhelming. similar profiles like Paradoxe Eau de Parfum are much cheaper and this type of scent is a very popular one. i honestly find Safanad to be a better offering from this brand in the orange blossom area despite not being a fan of that style of scent.
the projection is ok at the beginning, about medium. sadly the longevity is depressing, and this scent was hanging on for dear life after 4 hours. i got a friend to check just in case i went noseblind, and they could barely smell it too. for 583 AUD (410 USD) this product should be lasting longer than my 5 AUD (3.50 USD) Mod Vanilla Body Mist (which has more than triple the amount of product).
despite the highway robbery, it's still an alright scent. if you like orange blossom/ambery white florals then i would recommend trying this to see what you think. maybe you might like it if you try it, although i didn't like it, everyone's opinions are different and that's the fun part of being in the fragrance community, seeing the sheer amount of preferences and opinions.
