"Spring, let your blue ribbon flutter through the air again...
... "sweet, familiar scents, forebodingly sweeping the land.. - is there anyone here who did not have to learn this poem by Mörike in primary school? And yet it is not even particularly beautiful, so unwieldy with this strange embracing rhyme. But: It is firmly engraved in us, becoming an unforgettable herald of spring itself. I always think of this poem when I use Lady Blanche - for me a second perfect herald of spring. Whether the pyramid is truly complete is beyond my judgement. But these three flowers are united in perfect harmony in this fragrance.

Iris, the gentle powder, welcomes me at the beginning. In fact, the fragrance is at its most gentle in the first few minutes. This is the refinement in the fragrance and also in the image evoked by the name of the perfume: acting softly and innocently, Lady Blanche first gets up and prepares herself with an extensive toilet for the day that begins for her in the morning, around half past ten. Her bobbin lace gloves, her breast cloth made of Brussels lace, look so delicate and fragile. No water can cloud her, the little wolf in cuddly sheep's clothing
Then the narcissus appears and the fragrance takes on something immensely green, tart and powerful. I suspect that it is this strong note that has reminded the previous speakers here of corners and edges, of graveyard flower water. Indeed, it seems that Lady Blanche is now becoming very uncomfortable talking to her newspaper-reading husband at the breakfast table. But isn't this impression actually wrong? Is not the green narcissus shade that pervades here beautiful, just because it seems harsh? Admittedly, it is not crystal clear and fresh like other spring flower scents, such as "La Tulipe" or "La Femme l'eau", which I described yesterday.

But anyone who has ever been to the Lake District in March knows the oceans of yellow daffodils, the daffodils, which were planted there in honour of the national poet William Wordsworth and which now multiply millions of times over as soon as the first ray of sunlight hits the early spring landscape. And anyone who has ever seen these yellow lights, gathered in their hundreds between the completely bare branches and bushes, small and delicate, shimmering through the dark undergrowth, will agree with me that there are few flowers more hopeful and fragile than these, which bravely take up the fight against the gloomy, still winter cold. No sugar-sweet drivel will help here - you have to be a bit harsher to assert yourself against the inhospitable nature. Thus, for me, the tangy green and yet so pure blossom scent of the daffodils symbolizes the end of winter and the final breakthrough into spring - and is thus for me the complete opposite of cemetery and death. The daffodil stands for life! A new beginning! Sunshine! Happiness!

The hyacinth, which is added later, this weird, eye-catching scent flower, finally gives the fragrance its unerring elegance, exactly the tone that makes this fragrance so fine and so suitable for work. Lady Blanche shows here from her precious, precious side - her level, her complexity, all the things her husband would have to miss if she would really take revenge. But that's not what she wants at all. She just wants to show him who she really is. And she doesn't want him to underestimate her. The hyacinth gives this self-confident, flowery-green fragrance more variety, with the finest nuances of flowers even towards the end, making it so noble and - yes - expensive. A really beautiful, distanced and elegant spring scent - as said, perfect for working, but full of happy promises

White daffodils...
...I have in my garden, besides the classic yellow form and various other variants regarding size and flower shape. Size and flower shape. Shortly after blooming, the inner calyx still appears pale yellow (as seen in my bottle photo), but soon shines uniformly with the outer petals in pure, innocent-looking white.
I have to think of these flowers when I think of this perfume - although the title doesn't sound so innocent at all, and even less so the head cinema at DonJuandeCat's comment. But then, "Blanche" is French for "white" (feminine form) and besides, narcissus is a main note in this perfume.

First, according to the pyramid, but first the iris, in typical rather dry, slightly powdery way. Narcissus and hyacinth follow but very soon and let the fragrance seem a little fresher and "greener". Still, it remains a distinctly floral but unsweet scent that strikes me as quite elegant, not at all playful. Unlike in some other perfumes, the hyacinth shows a relatively gentle side and seems much less "scratchy" than in "Margaretha Ley" or "Jacinthe et Rose" (both of which I also appreciate precisely because of this almost somewhat pungent note) and also not as harsh as in "Bluebell" (also by Penhaligon's). In the further course, the perfume gets a minimal tendency in the soapy direction.

I fell in love with this perfume of spring flowers based on a sample. Since no sharing was in sight, it should be but once a bottle from this not exactly cheap, but decorative series of the front of me generally quite appreciated brand Penhaligon's. And it actually found a reasonably affordable offer on the Internet. The elaborately designed falcon is also pretty to look at. The dark color of the liquid is unusual for a perfume from rather bright flowers, but fits well with the design with the animal head (I guess a leopard - because of the picture on the box).

This perfume I consider at moderate dosage suitable for the office, but is also well suited for going out, if you appreciate floral fragrances.

She's a Lady - If you like iris scents
I haven't commented on a fragrance in quite some time. Am also pretty lazy in this regard.
Shame on me!

The Revenge of Lady Blache is the first fragrance I bought simply because of the bottle cap. That awesome leopard head!!!
I just had to have that one.

But not only this convinces, but also the contents in the bottle.

The iris root (Orris) is present from the first moment to the end. In other compositions, however, this component is often very strict and somehow bitter and earthy. Here, the iris unfolds indeed powerful; at the same time, the iris component is accompanied by other floral-fresh notes. Above all, in the development of the fragrance, just the hyacinth is very perceptible. For me, also a very special ingredient, which stands for a certain fresh florality and associated lightness of the entire fragrance.

The Revenge of Lady Blache is for me a decidedly elegant, floral, very complex fragrance for almost any season (except extreme high summer) and for any occasion.

And as always:
We are who we are and we wear what we like.

Green Orris Twist
Lady Blanche is Like walking at dawn and breathing in the smell of dew on the flowers. Typical British landscape.
humid, sometimes earthy, green and clean. A realistic orris, not at all dusty.

Imagine Mr Darcy walk around Derbyshire.

A typical balance of English perfumery: do not overload the fragrance.

It’s not my favorite of Portraits but the effect is not old style but bright and sophisticated.

I’ve a decant and sometimes I love go the bed with her!

Tried by someone who doesn't like florals (so bear that in mind when reading my review)
Lady Blanche sounds just as amazing as Yasmine - a spicy, floral and woody scent. Perfect in Autumn!
But oh how different the two are! Lady Blanche is a powdery and light fragrance, whereas Yasmine was spicy, deep and smokey.
I'm sorry Penhaligon's, but in what world is Lady Blanche a spicy fragrance? This reminds me so much of Infusion d'Iris by Prada. Both are elegant, powdery, feminine and floral. Lady Blanche has in comparison to Infusion d'Iris a notable note of hyacinth.
The one who wrote the pamphlet in the set needs to revise it
Lady Blanche is definitely for spring and maybe summer, but not my cup of tea for autumn.

On skin, the hyacinth is very much noticeable. When spraying myself with Lady Blanche, I made a note to myself that she and Infusion d'Iris are identical, but when smelling my wrist, I distinguish the hyacinth as being the sole noticeable note. It is so strong that I find Lady Blanche to be a purely hyacinth fragrance. The similarity to Infusion d'Iris is still there, but between those two scent experiences is another one too. A terrible one.
Something really synthetic and plastic like. It might just be my dislike of anything floral, especially hyacinth.
This is the type of fragrance that I struggle to write a review of from a full day's wear.
I think I've gotten the jist of it - a green scent of a predominantly hyacinth note, floral of course, powdery and moderately sweet.
That's it, you won't get more out of me.
Maybe just a last remark that I tried to wash it off and it ain't budging, to my dismay.

The ashy narcissus in the background is a lovely touch. It is not too obvious, but it does make the iris shine like a diamond.
